Environment: - Mozilla 1.0.1 - Linux - Disk Cache 0KB, Mem Cache 4MB, Squid Proxy. Reproduction: 1. Go to URL. 2. Try to save the HTMl file, via File|Save Page As... or contextmenu|Save Page As... Actual result: 1. Nothing 2. After a long time (1-2 minutes?), I got some dialog telling me something that I forgot. Expected result: Anything displayed can be saved. Additional Comments: Similar to bug 166786 in effects, but not symptoms.

seeing as well, win98, 2002100108, mem cache 4 MB, disk cache 50000 KB (interesting number btw. why not 50 MB?), no proxy. hm, haven't waited long enough yet to get such a dialog.

haha, now I get another one of these dialogs. That must be 15 minutes after my action. The text says: "The link could not be saved. The web page might have been removed or had its name changed." This dialog must never appear (from our UI). I can only trigger Save for pages that are displayed and I must be able to save everything that is displayed.

Can't View Source either. Just got another one of these dialogs, now 30 minutes after my action (I triggered Save repeatedly, of course).
The design of File/Save as... depends on the cache. With only a 4Mb memory cache, things will get evicted pretty quickly, and may not be available for saving. The cache and HTTP have a mechanism designed to allow "pinning" items in the cache so they don't get evicted until the current page is done with them, but it will require clients of HTTP to support it. See bug 72519. Changing component to File Handling.

True, but in this case, I loaded that page just before, it's only 100K, so it
should be in the cache.
True, you should pin things, so that I can still save the page after browsing 2
hours in another window.
