Details

This has happened to my MacOS 8.6 system twice, the first time I ran Mozilla
0.9.3 and the first time I ran Mozilla 0.9.4.

After deleting the old Mozilla Folder and running the Mozilla installer to
install a new one, I run the newly installed Mozilla. Mozilla goes through
component registration, then goes into an infinite loop creating 0-length files
on the desktop. The files each have a random name (or a random name followed by
a hyphen and a digit) and an extension of ".xul". The first time this happened
to me, it created 897 of these files before I turned off the power.
Speculation: this has something to do with running out of file handles while
assembling skins. There is probably some piece of recovery code that
incorrectly keeps trying instead of throwing an error and giving up.
Isn't this bug 55639 (see also bug 61068 and bug 61070) -- thing is... you're
QA there and commented in one about it being uncool... *confused*
