113523 - query box acting unpredictably

When I try to type into this query box, typing is echoed onto the screen only
2-3 letters at a time.  Moreover, as one types, the entry is apparently
unpredictably erased such that what has been typed is still on the screen but
the editor acts as though the entry has been erased (goes back to the left edge
of the query box and acts as though the existing letters did not exist).  Have
not observed this behavior with IE.  Have not observed this with other sites
with query boxes, such as VersionTracker.  There is something different about
this site but I don't know HTML well enough to say what.  After working with it
awhile, Mozilla went into spinning wheel mode and I had to force quit it.  This
behavior is reproducible.
Using OS X 10.1.1, the Java 1.0d6 plug-in, on a 400 Mhz G4.

Confirmed using Mac/2001112011 (0.9.6) under Mac OS 9. Changing OS=Mac OS 9, 
reducing Severity to Minor, and Component to HTML Form Controls.

Probably Evangelism. The HTML is very badly formed and invalid, and when it's corrected 
the form field works fine.

I'm unable to reproduce any of the problems you mentioned above in a 12/04/01
Mac OS X or Win32 Trunk Debug build. What version/buildID of mozilla are you
using? The querybox you mention is the "Find This:" textfield right? What were
you doing when the app froze/hung (what you call spinning wheel mode)?

If you are using an 0.9.6 build, is it possible to pick up a nightly trunk build
and see if you can reproduce it? Like I said I don't see the problem in my trunk
debug builds.

I did notice a problem with the page growing in size as I typed in the "Find
This:" textfield which I filed as a separate bug. (Bug 113659)

Greg what are you confirming? The redraw problems or the hanging?

I should clarify that the reproducible behavior is the problems with the 
typing, not the crashing.  I've only had the crash happen once so it may 
have been a one-time occurrence.
