A STOP button in the Messenger window is an absolute necessity, considering all the junk I get sent to me these days...
Do you mean a STOP button to stop network activity, or a STOP button to block the sender of an email from sending you mail again?
I mean STOP button to stop network activity.

Yes, we do need that. I assume mscott is doing the networking/URL group part of this, so reassigning to him. cc bienvenu.

Target Milestone: M11
It's doubtful that we will have all the pieces in place to pull this off by beta 1. But I'll set for M11 and we'll see.
This is one that would be really nice to have for PR1.

OK, the stop button is hooked up to call the stop method on the web shell. Unfortunately, this doesn't do us much good for various reasons, the first of which is that the web shell stop method doesn't interrupt the channels yet (rpotts is going to check in a fix for that). Secondly, the imap channel ignores the stop notification. I have a fix for that, but I can't test it until Rick checks in (which should be tonight). I'd prefer to open new bugs for the various protocols handling stop. I'll open one for imap.

Stop button is present and selectable/operable in basic form using nov 11 builds. It has some problems, which will be documented as separate issues (protocols handling stop have already been logged separately, too). 1999-11-09-11 commercial build linux 6.0 1999-11-09-11 commercial build NT 4.0 1999-11-08-08 commercial build mac OS 8.5.1
