Seems that in IMAP some strings are still not changed to localized strings (for example when getting new mail in status bar I've got INBOX instead of localized string), see screenshoot (this string should be changed to localized, bug http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=57440 is already fixed). Screenshoot: http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/showattachment.cgi?attach_id=72956 Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; pl-PL; rv:0.9.9+) Gecko/20020307

Nominating for nsbeta1. It will be very confusing for users who are using a localized build.

which part is the localized string for INBOX in the screenshot ? "Odebrane wiadmosci" == INBOX ? It looks like from the screen shot the status bar show "INBOX Odebrane: Naglowek wiadmosci" What it SHOULD be ? Should it be "Odebrane: Naglowek wiadmosci" ?
I really don't think this should be nsbeta1+. It looks we show English information IN ADDITIOANL to the localized folder name. Will that confuse user ?

"Odebrane wiadmosci" == INBOX String in status bar is from string: imapMsgs.properties - 5036: %S Receiving: Message headers %lu of %lu "Odbieranie" == Receiving %S it is folder name so it should be: "Odebrane wiadomosci Odbieranie: Naglowek wiadomosci %lu z %lu" Similar strings are: 5037 and 5045 So in general we are showing English information INSTEAD localized.
Frank, status bar only shows English folder names. Renominating.

I think the folder name shows in the status bar not frequently happen. E.g. getting headers of INBOX after connecting the server select trash and downloading headers I re-nominate for triage this again.

Seems that not only IMAP folder are not localized in status bar - the same thing happens for POP3. I think that folder names are not localized in all strings from localMsgs.properties and imapMsgs.properties.
Target Milestone: mozilla1.0 → mozilla1.2alpha
nominate for nsbeta1 naving, do you have any idea how to do this?

Hansen, Dwayne, can you reproduce this?
Flags: needinfo?
To be honest I haven't looked at this in ages and my hasn't had the resources to localise Thunderbird for a while now. Sorry :(
Flags: needinfo?
Severity: normal → S3

Antony, are you using en-GB build, and can reproduce this?

I am and will check

Flags: needinfo?(acdp)

My main work account - IMAP, showing my folders (localised - if I understand correctly) under INBOX

SPM account with the standard IMAP folders - so separate to the INBOX (outside)

Another account using IMAP, but ONLY localised folders, so under INBOX

My Outlook account , also IMAP, but no localised folders (I seem to recall cannot set these up under Outlook email), so Outside of the INBOX as std IMAP folders

I posted these shots to show my settings. I then set the accounts to use the Localised folders, those under INBOX.

I note that for Sent one can select which folder, for JUNK, one cannot, settings only use the generic IMAP Junk folder, outside of INBOX.

However, maybe I have missed the bug, as not sure about the "Status bar" showing - looks like the shot posted is from a very old version (original?) as 23 yrs ago...!!!!

I do not recall any status msg reflecting which folder emails have been loaded to
