As in Communcator the "Mark All Read" option should be added when right clicking mail folders.

this is closely related to bug 66657, but i don't think it's actually a dupe. bug 66657 asks for a context item on right-clicking a message, this is talking about right-clicking the folder. should that be considered seperately? (i'm adding word "folder" to summary, FWIW)
Summary: [RFE] "Mark All Read" should be added to mail contextual menu → [RFE] "Mark All Read" should be added to mail folder contextual menu

It's needed on folders. MS Outlook has it too (i have to use it at work ), and that's what i miss most when using mozilla (at home).
This is also needed when you work with some POP server you access in many ways. I do read my POP mail via webrowser in the office and than download it to mozilla whebn at home. It is often the case that all the new mail has been already read in another way (via webrowser). Then I need a fast way to mark them all read. Now it is very annoying to do it by hand.

I hereby rant in favor of the feature request. This option is available when right-clicking a newsgroup, so there's no reason why it shouldn't be available when right-clicking a mail folder. This is especially useful when you import mail from another client. Then all mail is marked unread. These are the kind of small, straightforward and smart feature requests that makes me wonder just how slow the Mozilla developers work. (Almost 3 months since the original feature request was filed! How hard can it be to add a menu item?!)
As for comment #4: Come on! Aren't you mistake with your rude comments on development speed???? This is an open source project, if you like the new feature then spend an evening and implement it, and if you cannot just do not bug people who use their spare time on project which is gonna serve you!

Sorry about comment 4. Although I'm sure there are many developers in the Mozilla project actually working for Netscape Communications (thus not developing on their spare time), I *apologize* for my comment on the development speed. If I knew how to add that menu item, I'd do it tonight.

Um.. the patch looks good to me, even the DTD is properly modified for Messenger. Should the patch be going to a reviewer?

So is this happening? or has it been dropped?

This bug was mentioned in the "make 1.5 more user-friendly" discussions in the newsgroups. "It's needed for consistency as this option is available for newsgroups and it was there in NS 4.x." Gerv

There's a glitch in this fix: the menu item is shown when right-clicking on an account, where it does not apply. Selecting it does nothing. See bug 220572.

Aidas since you authored the patch, can you help fix the small error it caused by having the menu item show up when an account is selected? See bug 220572. Appreciate the help!
