silently after several minutes (10-40, may depends of IRC traffic intencity).

Only closing chatzilla and starting again may help.
I think that the IRC server is capable of disconnecting a client "improperly"
without sending it some special packet that informs the client that they're
being disconnected.

Can you reproduce this bug on any other server? Maybe EFnet or Dalnet?
Of course, it may be reproduced every time, simply launching Chatzilla :) on
any irc network.
Was checked also on irc.anduin.net (#netlabs) and Dalnet (different channels).
This behaviour start from version 0.9.8. Other OS/2 users also confirm this bug.
May be this bug is OS/2 specific (I havn't use other version of OS).
Is there any way to narrow down when it started happening?

This could have been related to NSPR changes I guess, but I can't reproduce it
since I have chatzilla trouble at IBM anyway.
I think this may be a long-standing issue, that (on most platforms) rarely shows
up. It would seem that on OS/2 it happens much more frequently. Perhaps a race
condition?

I think that this is an OS/2 specific trouble. I run mozilla for os/2 and for
win32. I connected them to local ircd (in my home lan). After ~30 minutez
chatzilla on OS/2 was disconnected ... Chatzilla on win32 had no problems...
Anyway, i think that mozilla need to autoreconnect irc server and notice user.
Please can You check, if mentioned NSPR changes have an influence on mail
subsystem. As I noticed, that autogetting messages doesn't work (stop working)
after some uptime of Mozilla messenger. But there was no such problem on Mozilla
0.9.7 build, I'd used before rc1.
If this happens everytime in OS/2, even when idle, then you should do a packet
trace.

email me if you want to try that. I'll explain how.
reopen if still a problem
