Now that we have auto scan to plugins like plugin.scan.SunJRE I would really like to have Adobe SVG Viewer added to the like. currently you have to manually copy this file: NPSVG3.dll to the plugin folder. the location of the plugin can be found be looking the this reg.db value: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Adobe SVG Viewer\3.0\dir which on my Win2k pc have: C:\WINNT\System32\Adobe\SVG Viewer 3.0\ so perhaps we could have plugin.scan.AdobeSVG 20020516
I'll take this, but futuring because we can't do this right now because the Adobe SVG plugin 3.0 uses unfrozen interfaces and is known to crash. I could be wrong here, but I also think it is not listed as a Netscape or AOL tier1 plugin so it is difficult to justify adding this new pref.

"Adobe SVG plugin 3.0" is a crash and burn with daily Mozilla...:) so I understand.
u are right, peter.
setting to distant future, but this could be fixed as a side-effect of the plug-in manager.

SVG Viewer 3.0 crashes Mozilla 1.1 (20020826)
Adobe SVG Viewer 6.0 preview 1, currently win32 only, works great with Firebird and does not cause crashes.
The Adobe SVG Viewer 6 now works fine in both Mozilla and Firebird. The location of the plugin can be found be looking the this reg.db value: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Adobe SVG Viewer\6.0\dir which on my WinXP is: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\SVG Viewer 6.0\
Summary: add Adobe SVG Viewer to autoscan for plugins → add Adobe SVG Viewer 6 to autoscan for plugins
The SVG plugin (and all others) can help itself and be automatically recognized if their installer would write the keys described in this document: http://www.mozilla.org/projects/plugins/first-install-problem.html Any plugin that writes its key here will be automatically found: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\MozillaPlugins Since it sounds like the SVG 6.0 plugin is still in preview, perhaps the Adobe folks could be informed of this key and add it before the final release
I've submitted a bug report and a feedback form to Adobe. If anybody got an inside contact at Adobe please write them...
(In reply to comment #8) > The Adobe SVG Viewer 6 now works fine in both Mozilla and Firebird. Where do you get Viewer 6? I just downloaded the one the plugin loader takes you to, and it turns out to be 3.0 which crashes and burns...

(In reply to comment #8) > The Adobe SVG Viewer 6 now works fine in both Mozilla and Firebird. Not anymore.
(In reply to comment #13) > (In reply to comment #8) > > The Adobe SVG Viewer 6 now works fine in both Mozilla and Firebird. > > Not anymore. I haven't used it very extensively, but it still seems to for me. This should perhaps at least wait until bug 115528 is fixed?
I think this bug can bed closed, because the viewer is not supported anymore and firefox has its own svg implementation
(In reply to comment #15) > I think this bug can bed closed, because the viewer is not supported anymore > and firefox has its own svg implementation > Looking at http://www.codedread.com/images/svg-support.png i'd say ASV6 still has its use, hopefully not much longer though
(In reply to comment #15) > I think this bug can bed closed, because the viewer is not supported anymore > and firefox has its own svg implementation Agreed, IMHO this should be marked fixed (invalid), as the root cause is in a software product (ASV) which was publicly discontinued [1] (aside from not being supported for a while). A similar action was already done for bug 133567. [1] http://www.adobe.com/svg/eol.html
