No matter what browser I try, the archive I get is always corrupted. Is it usable if downloaded via CVS?
26687d67437cf0adf76e66ede7c814aa howto.html.tar.gz Downloaded via wget 2befb4aedc8b0cceb6159bf52f599a1d howto.html.tar.gz Downloaded with Mozilla The tarball downloaded with wget works... Interesting: gunzip of the tarball downloaded from mozilla works also.. but tar fails.. -> Networking HTTP
Component: Download Manager → Networking: HTTP
Look at this: ------------------------- GET /co.php/phpdoc/howto/howto.html.tar.gz HTTP/1.1 HTTP/1.0 200 OK Connection: close Date: Wed, 05 Jun 2002 11:03:20 GMT Server: Apache/1.3.20 (Unix) PHP/4.2.0RC2 X-Powered-By: PHP/4.2.0RC2 Set-Cookie: Horde=b52a1059c461b98d391a9e042875409d; path=/horde; domain=cvs.php.net Expires: Thu, 19 Nov 1981 08:52:00 GMT Cache-Control: max-age=60, must-revalidate Pragma: no-cache Content-Type: application/x-gzip ..no content length is given (that could be wget..) Now look at this (note: now with Accept-Encoding): ------------------------------ GET /co.php/phpdoc/howto/howto.html.tar.gz HTTP/1.1 Accept-Encoding: gzip, deflate, compress;q=0.9 HTTP/1.0 200 OK Connection: close Date: Wed, 05 Jun 2002 11:11:28 GMT Server: Apache/1.3.20 (Unix) PHP/4.2.0RC2 X-Powered-By: PHP/4.2.0RC2 Set-Cookie: Horde=3ef3de5add8b76f26eab1c15d7d2f44b; path=/horde; domain=cvs.php.net Expires: Thu, 19 Nov 1981 08:52:00 GMT Cache-Control: max-age=60, must-revalidate Pragma: no-cache Content-Encoding: gzip Vary: Accept-Encoding Content-Length: 37484 Content-Type: application/x-gzip That's what mozilla recives.. And the file downloaded by mozilla is the size given by the webserver by content-length.. Short summary: Wget (for example) doesn't recive a Content-Length Mozilla DOES recive a WRONG Content-Length.. buh.. buggy webserver?..

actually, it looks like the document has been compressed twice. if you download it and gunzip it once, then run "tar tfz howto.html.tar" and it'll work just fine. -> evangelism

this isn't a valid evangelism bug since the content is broken in all browsers. please contact the owner of the project and ask them to fix their gz files.
