user feedback:

There is a difference when a .pps is opened in Power Point with Netscape 4.76
and Netscape 6.2.3.
 
Netscape 4.76     - Opens .pps file (when you click the hyper link in web page )
as .pps file only (Silde Show) in Power point
 
Netscape 6.2.3    - Opens .pps file  (when you click the  hyper link in web page
) as .ppt file in Power Point.

This still happens in trunk and 1.0 branch builds.  Note that we think the file
is called .pps.ppt (the example I used was
ftp://download.intel.com/english/ebusiness/workshop98/ESM.pps)

So we shouldn't be appending the .ppt to the file (should also fix the issue).

This basically requires fixing bug 147679

ok I think this should be fixed by the checkin for bug 147679
