Since performance does not seem to be the original reason for this removal (see comment #3), could someone please explain the reason why sidebar was removed from mail client ? Not that I object against it, I just wonder why such a bug suddenly appear w/o any justification or reason, and I wonder if all the people having to know about it ***prior to check-in*** really knew about it.
I can see the merits in either case (leaving sidebar in or taking it out).I guess I would just want there to be an elegant way to allow the user to choose which is best for him/her. I've tended to use mail news window as a communication center of sorts -- IM or Mail depending on my needs are right there for me (IM is in the Netscape branded sidebar - but the same argument may hold for other applets in the sidebar.)
Please add the adt1.0.2 keyword when a branch patch is ready
this is not going on 1.0.2
I have to agree with Syd. I was (and I am still) missing the possibility to access my bookmarks from the mailnews menu bar, but had found a more powerful tool instead: the sidebar showing in mailnews! So I have to repeat Daniel's question: what is the reason for removing it? Why not adding contacts as another part of the sidebar?
see bug 178003 for more discussion.
