Build: 09-18 windows and 09-17 Mac OS X, linux trunk builds

ID for windows:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.2a) Gecko/20020918

Load page:
http://www.cnn.com/2002/ALLPOLITICS/09/18/intelligence.hearings/index.html
- this page can be linked by the top news in Netscape home page today.

Notice there is no line break, missed image file ...etc.

This problem is a regression - I don't see it on N7.0RTM
I think it's a bad regression, nominate as nsbeta1.

Bug does occur: 2002-09-18-04 trunk Linux
Severity: normal → major
Sorry, now I see it in 2002-09-17-09 too, must be earlier...
Attached file testcase
testcase exhibits bug with linux trunk build 20020918
trunk build 2002090905 works, trunk build 2002091016 (1.2a) does not

this looks like a regression from bug 167355 (which is consistent with having
document.write in the testcase).

also the document.write can write anything including simple text and the bug
still occurs.

I'm not seeing any problems with my TRUNK Mozilla Win32 debug build from
yesterday. Both of these URLs load fine:

http://www.cnn.com/2002/ALLPOLITICS/09/18/intelligence.hearings/index.html
http://www.cnn.com/2002/ALLPOLITICS/09/19/bush.congress.iraq/index.html

Can someone who sees the problem attach a screen shot to show what exactly
you're seeing?

Andrew, bug 167355 was a specific situation that happened when document.open(),
document.write() and document.close() were used together to cause the entire
document to be replaced. What exactly is your test case (attachment 99789 [details])
supposed to show? It looks the same to me when I load it in Netscape 7.0 (based
on the MOZILLA_1_0_BRANCH) and in a Mozilla TRUNK build.
the table should be very wide (maybe 65k pixels) in the testcase

for the CNN URL, the page is very wide (again perhaps 65k pixels) with the
article text on the left and not wrapping. the right two "bars" (Story Tools,
Video, Related, and the ad) are on the right side of the table (off screen until
you scroll).

Attach a image file per comment #7 request.

There are many CNN news links display like this.
Cc karnaze@netscape.com ... it looks almost as if the content in the table is
being reflowed unconstrained.
bug 154780 - make the computed width for a cell unconstrained when the table
will re-initialize or re-balance.
