Using Phoenix 11/11 on Windows XP:
1. Close all Phoenix windows.
2. Put a shortcut to phoenix.exe on the Windows XP quick launch bar.
3. Click the shortcut twice quickly, launching Phoenix twice.
Result: A dialog appears saying "no xbl binding for browser". No browser
windows appear.
4. Click "ok".
Result: Two browser windows appear simultaneously. The first has a blank
content area, and the second has my home page loaded. (In an older Phoenix
build, only one window would appear.)
5. Click the "Home" button in the blank window's toolbar.
Result: My home page loads, but the visited links do not appear visited.
6. Click the link from my home page to Google.
Result: Google loads, but the back button doesn't become enabled.
I've seen that too on Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.2b)
Gecko/20021102 Phoenix/0.4

Jesse, this is Phoenix specific? Did you test Moz too?

This bug is Phoenix-only. To check, I downloaded 11/18 nightlies of both
Phoenix and Mozilla.

OS -> All.
This happens on Windows 98 too and I'm pretty certain you can reproduce it on
Me, 95 and 2000 too.
OS: Windows XP → All
I use Windows 98 and Phoenix 0.5, also with the same problem with the XBL binding
But here only one browser window starts up.
Is this just limited to double clicking on something? I've gotten this message
when clicking on web links in Outlook too, so it's not just limited to using
windows shortcuts (even if they are similar processes). I can't remember if I
did a double click or single click on the link though. Using Phoenix 0.5
release (haven't checked a nightly yet), will try to reproduce soon.
I also just reproduced in Windows XP with double clicking on a windows shortcut,
although only one window opened up for me w/ no home page loaded (all the UI
elements were there though)
I am assuming this is the bug I'm seeing. I see it after Alt-Ctrl-Deleting and
after clicking on a link in Trillian (which mirrors the outlook observation). I
later find that a window does open in the background, or was already open. (?)
Windows ME. 0.5 Milestone. Will test farther.
Oh I forgot: The error message I get is:
"Error when launching browser: no XBL Binding for browser"
Once, (nonreproducible) this dialog did not contain an OK button (we presume
resource issues).
Is there a way to "unlock" the Phoenix process after a crash? There should be.

I have seen this when I only started one.
Sometimes the top part of the window is outside my screen.
Using: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.3b) Gecko/20030204
Phoenix/0.5

Is this what you are describing?
I have never associated it with the error message..but I posted a psuedo-bug
here. WinME. Note that this is also percieved to be a phoenix issue. Opening a
new window fixes it.
\t=387http://www.mozillazine.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3872
*Summary/Hypothesis*
Error messages caused whenever a new *instance* of Phooenix is run, via the
double-clicking of a link or the double-clicking of Phoenix. When windows open,
we have this third undefined behavior that is nonreproducable. See links above.
(we may want to seperate this part.)

I've encountered this bug many times on Win2K. Lately, with the phoenix 3/1-3/3
nightlies in particular.
I can reproduce it in the following manner.
Unzip phoenix-win32 to a directory (no overrwrite)
Run Phoenix, go to tools...options..extensions..get new extensions
Download/Install the Tabbbroweser extension.
Close browser via file..exit (or any other way for that matter)
Opening phoenix.exe will now always only display the 'no xbl binding for
browser' dialog, which can be dismissed, but no main window ever appears.
It the entire phoenix directory is deleted and a new one created from the same
zip, phoenix will agan be OK.

WFM in Phoenix build 03/04 on Windows XP. (I'm the original reporter.)

Does not WFM here. Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.3b)
Gecko/20030310 Phoenix/0.5
It can be hard to reproduce it sometimes, but the bug is not fixed.

I just tried my previous trick (install nightly/tabbrowser die etc) using the
nightly from 3/17. Now the browser works fine. In another words, I can no
longer reproduce the bug in that manner. I have encountered the in other
manners in the past however (quick double clicks, as in bug #173679). So I'll
see if it pops up.

I see this on Mozilla 1.3 final after a crash. Doesn't seem to have anything to
do with quick re-launch.
Had to reboot to get Mozilla running.

WFM, Firebird 0.6.1rc1 and has done for ages. I would recommend this be closed
unless anyone else can replicate it in a new build.
