User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.2.1) Gecko/20021130 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.2.1) Gecko/20021130 When I tried to open my mail profile, it stated it was in use. After some checking and re-booting, it was not in use but had a new file in the profile directory, named "parent.lock" and the time/date stamp was the instant I tried to open the account. I cannot delete nor rename the file, not in Win nor dos. In dos it is not even visible, in windows it is a "0" bytes file. What do I need to do to recover it? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Try to open my mail account 2. 3. Actual Results: "account in use" Expected Results: opened my mail account, as it usually does.
You should be able to delete it with the windows explorer while mozilla is not running. YOur files system must be corrupt if you can't ..
You probably need to restart windows then immediately try to delete the file.
The problem turned out to be due to installing Netscape 7.x to take a look at their new version. Once I un-installed the new version of Netscape, the parent lock was gone and all worked quite well, as it did prior.
