User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.4a) Gecko/20030307 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.4a) Gecko/20030307 When I try to pick something in the dropdown box (let's say... sender) while creating a rule, it won't let me select it, and stays at sender. The same goes for if I select... is. It goes right back to contains. So, I can only make Subject contains rules. Please fix! Or am I doing something wrong... Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Create a new rule. 2.Try to pick something other than subject in dropdown box. 3.It won't register, and goes right back to Subject. Actual Results: It won't go. It just goes back to Subject or Contains, making it imposible for me to make Sender is rules, for example. Expected Results: Allow me to make anytype of fillter, not just Subject Contains rules. I am using the modern theme. I don't want to lose all this typing, but I'll try in Default after, and follow the bug up.

see see the same as reporter of bug 197231: the filter gets stuck on a pre-selected "Sender" in dropdown. And i can't select anything other than the pre-selected "contains". Testing on current trunk CVS, Linux.

Raising severity. This pretty much breaks filter creation.
Severity: normal → critical

I downloaded Build 3003031508, and It still has the bug (obviously). R.K.Aa, I cannot see how it happens in the Search Sidebar. I tried it with Both Basic and Advanced, and it worked fine. Are you talking about some other Search dialouge, not the sidebar? BTW, thanks for raaising severity!

Andrew, i mentioned the Search being affected because of a comment: http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=196179#c1

Maybe we should file an additional bug, as the "search" feature is also broken. Also, this seems like an UI bug to me, not "Filters".

Dup bug 197932 describes the bug very well. Lowering severity a notch - this is only with the modern theme.
Severity: critical → major
Summary: Filters will only let me select Subject/Contains → [modern] Filters will only let me select Subject/Contains

seems this was filed somewhat later too. Since real work is done in the other bug: marking dup. See bug 196755 comment 28 *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 196755 ***
