doctor is going to make it easier to do self serve fixes when someone spots a broken url in the list. To change a url anyone with CVS access to the mozilla web site can just edit one of the files that contain url entries; like: http://doctor.mozilla.org/?file=mozilla-org/html/quality/browser/buster/top100/url.25 once thec change has been made, checked in, and pushed out to komodo it should be picked up in the next cycle for anyone that is running buster. This a tracking bug for gathering all the requests for URL changes, and the folks on the cc list with CVS acccess can help in maintaining the list of URLs used in the test. If you spot a broken URL or a site that stops the test simply add it to this bug and hopefully someone will jump on the fix soon.
changed mp3.com over to google.com per request in http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=196879
switched xfiles/fox site over to the beloved fishcam
url.132 - rewards2k sent the way of the dot coms; dhtmlcenteral.com in
url.59 -- xoom.com out ; hotmail.com in
hotmail had to be removed since it broke out of frames. sportsline.com out of the rotation until http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=197907 is fixed. everything should be in good order for now. let the race being. who can run browser buster the longest!
attitude.com out ; npr.org added
Enjoy this unusual HTTP oddity while it lasts! The Random Site test uses http://random.yahoo.com/fast/ryl which is broken. The response from the Yahoo server is *missing* a normal first line like HTTP/1.0 301 Moved Permanently The complete data returned is 2 lines Status: 301 Location: http://whatever.tld/ (with a total of 3 ASCII-10 ends) ...resulting in (Win98)... 1. Firebird, IE6, Opera 6.05, Perl LWP, also Linux Lynx 2.8: Present the above two lines as the content of the web page. No redirect to the random site. For instance, the Perl LWP module will insert these 3 lines to make a header: HTTP/0.9 200 (OK) Assumed OK Client-Date: Sun, 18 May 2003 01:51:24 GMT Client-Response-Num: 1 (See: libwww-perl-5.64\lib\net\http\methods.pm for "Assumed OK") 2. Netscape 4 Acts as if it had the proper HTTP response 301 header line! Redirects to whatever site! There's a chance NS4's GET request is special, but I at least tried GET /fast/ryl HTTP/1.0 Host: random.yahoo.com User-Agent: Mozilla/4.7 [en] (Win98; I) and got back from yahoo the same two lines as in the other clients. 3. Perl Net::HTTP->read_entity_body or your favorite low-level client will show it correctly. 4. PHP 4.3.1 crashes at the command line. So it's a regression from NS4. :)
http://www.warzone.com brings up a "The page must be viewed over a secure channel The page you are trying to view requires the use of "https" in the address" message.
http://www.the-park.com can not be found gateway.com and ameritrade.com liberate the browser from the burden of the test by breaking out of frames.
ameritrade and gateway out. ofoto and cisco in to replace
fishcam and npr.org out. kqed.org and wsj.com in.
nytimes -> sailing world... we should now be back in good shape to run the test continously.. come one, come all, let the 1.4 final browser buster testing commence!
I get only 301 errors for all pages on the random buster
Likewise, 301 errors for all pages in the random test. Thanks for providing these services; I'm using them to whack Safari and Konqueror too under MacOSX :-)
looks like yahoo no longer provides support for http://random.yahoo.com I'll either remove from the list of tests or try and find another site that provides this in the the next few days.
www.warzone.com seems to be intermittently up and down for me (and pops up a dialog that stops the refreshing process, MacOSX, 1.5alpha1). I'm not sure if anyone else is experiencing this on a semiregular basis.
online.wsj.com seems to hang on me (1.5 alpha, nacosx).
Warzone.com is now consistently down and stops the buster test every cycle. Also, pbs.com should probably be re-pointed to pbs.org.
sportsline.com out of the rotation until http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=197907 is fixed. It finishes loading for me - (build 2003081003, MacosX 10.2.6). However, www.wsj.com consistently hangs, trying to connect to online.wsj.com.
> It finishes loading for me - (build 2003081003, MacosX 10.2.6). However, www.wsj.com consistently hangs, trying to connect to online.wsj.com. Nope, it's working now; sorry.
warzone.com still offline ...
www.spiegel.de (from the international top 100 site list) hangs the Browser Buster. This web site takes control of the entire page, removing the Browser Buster frame.
http://bz.berlin1.de (from the international top 100 site list) hangs the Browser Buster. This web site takes control of the entire page, removing the Browser Buster frame.
http://www.tvmovie.de/startseite/index.html (from the international top 100 site list) hangs the Browser Buster. This web site takes control of the entire page, removing the Browser Buster frame. These German web sites don't really seem to like the Browser Buster! :-)
Browser Buster stops after displaying http://www.bankofamerica.com/index.cfm
bankofamerica replaced with news.google.com
lemme know if other stuff is broken so we can ramp up on using this for 1.7 release candidate testing....
Mozilla Nightly 2004051409 on Windows XP. top100/url.145 : http://bankofamerica.com is still (or again) listed at http://webtools.mozilla.org/buster/pagelist.html and still stops the browser buster.
sounds strange on the bofa site? cvs is updated with a new url, but maybe the change didn't get pushed to the website.. testing now to see if I can reproduce. also looks like creaf.com needs to be changed. switched that one to hiptop top sites -http://www.creaf.com +http://www.hiptop.com/mblinks/?action=view_category&category_id=1
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8a) Gecko/20040515 The following URL's in the Browser buster top 100 list cause the browser buster to stop. http://www.bankofamerica.com/ http://www.creaf.com/
changes are checked into cvs to fix those... leaf has set up cvs to populate the changes on the server so the browser buster script sees them. it should be working now.
http://www.msn.com stops the top 100 browser buster.
Belay my last. http://www.msn.com only stops the browser buster if and only if a particular cookie is stored. However, it seems that http://fidelity.com/ does stop it with or without a cookie. Also, can http://www.uroulette.com/visit.php be used for the random site test?
confirming comment 27. Can you remove tvmovie of the buster :-)
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8a2) Gecko/2004071408 Top 100 Browser Buster displays the same page over and over.
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8a3) Gecko/20040720 Build ID: 2004072008 When browser buster loads http://www.davesclassics.com it never finishes loading that page.
Random loader isn't working. Keeps saying status: 301
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8a5) Gecko/20041005 When browser buster loads http://www.date.com/ it stalls and does not load any subsequent pages.
I removed nyse.com Does anyone know where the redirect to blockbuster video is happening? that breaks the frameset
Might it be that the top 100 site list always serves one http://www.freethemes.com over and over again?
This bug has been logged under the component Web Sniffer. That doesn't seem right. Since Browser Buster appears to be at webtools.mozilla.org/buster perhaps a new component called Buster should be created under the product Webtools. Then change the component on this bug to that new one.
Using Mozilla Windows Nightly 2005020504 on Windows XP SP2 Browser Buster sticks on http://www.freethemes.com http://webtools.mozilla.org/buster/test_url_25.html I think it would be good to get Browser Buster working again so it can be used for testing the upcoming 1.8 beta's
I've created a experimental Top 100 Browser Buster script under http://www.mcsmurf.de/cgi-bin/buster.pl, it basically uses all the urls the browser buster on mozilla.org uses.
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8b2) Gecko/20050414 When browser buster loads http://www.date.com/ it stalls and does not load any subsequent pages.
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8b4) Gecko/20050806 Firefox/1.0+ When browser buster loads http://www.etrade.com/ it stalls and does not load any subsequent pages.

Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.9a1) Gecko/20050816 Firefox/1.0+ http://www.date.com and http://www.blockbuster.com both terminate the test_url_25.htm browser buster.
http://www.bxa.doc.gov/Encryption/regs.htm does not exist (on top 100 site list)
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.1) Gecko/20060111 Firefox/1.5.0.1 ID:2006011112 Please remove http://www.blockbuster.com from the browser buster url list.
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9a1) Gecko/20060517 Minefield/3.0a1 ID:2006051706 Browser Buster stops after loading https://www.wellsfargo.com/

http://www.ebay.com fails to finish loading.
1. The description of the ".gif buster" test says that it tests the browser's cache usage. I've configured the browser (SeaMonkey 1.1B, on Win2K) to use a proxy and I see in the proxy log that each request for the GIF file is gotten from the webtools.mozilla.org website. Not only is the GIF image not cached by the browser, but it appears that a caching proxy (Squid v2.6S4) doesn't cache the image file either. 2. The links in the "Test Page Size Variables" test are all dead.
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9a1) Gecko/20061005 Minefield/3.0a1 ID:2006100504 [cairo] Browser Buster stops after loading http://www.etrade.com
any idea what the number of the URL is that might be loading when etrade appears? I don't see etrade in the current rotation list. http://www.mozilla.org/quality/browser/buster/pagelist.html
ok etrade should be out now, and http://www.sec.gov/investor/online.shtml in
The top 100 site list is not cycling through the list. It reloads http://www.bigyellow.com again and again. Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9a2pre) Gecko/20070112 Minefield/3.0a2pre ID:2007011204 [cairo]

bug fix
Browser Buster (http://webtools.mozilla.org/buster/) has been broken for more than 8 months now. If it is no longer useful (better testing tools etc.) then please take it down, and status this bug to "Wontfix". If it is still considered useful, then please fix it so it will cycle through the list(s).
Browser Buster's still broken. I think fixing it could yield useful results by allowing stress testing of Firefox 3 on a variety of hardware and in a variety of Firefox Extension and Theme combinations. Is there another testing tool in the Mozilla arsenal that end-users can use to do automatic stress testing?
Browser buster is gone
