Preconditions

• The Firefox theme is set to a non-Default theme: New Tab → Customize → Appearance → Sun theme.

Steps to reproduce

1. Enable Vertical tabs
2. Open a new tab.
3. Observe the contrast between the Vertical Tabs area and the web content area of the New Tab page.

Expected result

• The Vertical Tabs area should be visually differentiated from the web content area of the New Tab page, as it is when the Default theme is enabled.

Actual result

• The Vertical Tabs area has the same color as the web content area when the window is in focus.

Regression range
This changes are introduced with the new Firefox themes being available with Nova redesign.

Additional notes

• I'm not sure whether this is an actual issue, as I could not find any UX specifications related to this behavior.

Hi Scott, did the New Tab page intentionally make the page background pull browser theme colors?
