User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.5b) Gecko/20030712 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.5b) Gecko/20030712 During the past couple of weeks, apparently Earthlink has made some changes to their news servers. I now (but not in the past) have the following problems: 1) Using Netscape 7.1 and Mozilla 1.4 or Netscape 4.77, I cannot POST new mail to MOST (but not all) newsgroups. For instance, I cannot post to news:sci.geo.satellite-nav. I get an error message as follows: A news (NNTP) error occurred: 437 Unwanted Newsgroup "sci.geo.satellite-nav" 2) I can DOWNLOAD messages from (for instance) sci.geo.satellite-nav using nntp.mindspring.com but NOT using news.earthlink.net. 3) Using Outlook express, I can send and receive postings to all newsgroups on both news servers. They made some change a few days ago and since then I have to use outlook express to send out NEWS postings. I can receive news OK. Earthlink's answer? "We do not support Netscape/Mozilla. You will have to ask Mozilla/Netscape to update their mail system." Does anyone know what is going on here? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Just try and send a NEWS POSTING using either of the above news servers. 2. 3. Actual Results: error message
I have periodically loaded beta builds to see if this problem had been fixed. I am happy to report that I loaded the version Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.5b) Gecko/20030827 and the problem has been fixed. Joe Mehaffey
