when I exit full screen the browser sticks in full screen mode but returns to
restored screen size and the x and - in the right corner disapear. I am then
unable to close the window. I have a popup start menu and the menu then refuses
to pop up. to resolve the problem I have to ctrl alt delete and switch to
another running aplication/program this imeadeatly pops up my start bar and I
can then switch to a program that takes up the whole screen (for example kazaa).
I then return to mozilla and the screen is restored.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.press f11 for fullscreen
2.press f11 to exit fullscreen
3.

Actual Results:  
the screen gets stuck in a mix of full and non full screen and I have to ctrl
alt delete to restore the program because the - and x disapears

Expected Results:  
returned to the non full screen mode and allowed my start menu to popup

You are using a build that is over a year old; much too old to report bugs on. 
A lot of code has passed thru since then.

If you can recreate the issue in a current Mozilla version, please reopen bug at
that point.

I have downloaded a firebird nightly build and I continue to get this bug also
my last version of firebird was the recomended latest milestone build 0.6 on the
mozzila.org site. I never actually checked the date but I highly dought it is a
year old.

This says you are using Mozilla (not Mozilla Firebird) version 1.0.0 (the
original Mozilla release). 20020530 is the date of the version: May 30, 2002.

What does your browser show under the Help menu->About?

I would delete the install entirely then, reinstall it, and then retest in a
completely new profile to see if you still have the problem.  Something is
completely wrong with your current installation if that's what it says its user
agent string is.  Firebird 0.6 has never had such a string.

I cleared my profile and reinstalled using there unofficial instalation program
and now full screen works.
about now says:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.4b) Gecko/20030516 Mozilla
Firebird/0.6
