It would be nice to have Mozilla Firebird T-shirts, as well as Mozilla Thunderbird ones. Using the little flame logo (red for Firebird, blue for Thunderbird) as logo for the shirts could be a good start.

Remember the branding document. Firebird and Thunderbird as just meant as codenames which should disappear from the general public's eyes as soon as they become the main Browser/Mail applications. Therefore we should be marketing something with the mozilla name

Some sites set up a store to sell shirts and mugs and such and the proceeds are also used as a fund raiser. Get some designs together and get quotes on printing and shipping and come up with a cost.

I run a small screen printing shop and would love to make Mozilla t-shirts for the foundation, at cost. Send me an email if I can help..

"Remember the branding document" http://www.mozilla.org/roadmap/branding.html 4. ..."However, once we have got a logical split of the browser and mail/news into separately run projects, we should use the brand we have while allowing the two main parts (and other parts, in the future) to have their own identities, while still reinforcing the mozilla name." I always try to prepend "_Mozilla_Firebird" in discussions, but these are exciting new products with cool logos designs http://www.phoenity.com/bird/ ...from a marketing point of view, these may lead to even more creative themes and designs which could make the products more popular. Perhaps, the Mozilla part of the Logos should be Text based... it is the engine & tree of the product branches. Have you seen the new SunBird Logo? http://gemal.dk/archives/000203.html Perhaps we could combine the "birds" with dinosaurs? Sorry, but I'd rather have flashy "bird" shirts & swag than an ugly red "T-Rex" that scares my daughter so much she uses IE. There are just many more creative things that could be done from a marketing perspective with the bird themes... or go back to the cool Netscape Mozilla designs Dave Titus made famous. How about opening a CafePress.com store ? MozillaZine has one already. Bart: If you give me permission to do so, I will.

Yes, I know. There are lots of other stores as well: www.cafepress.com/mozillacafe /mozillazine /mozilladev /mozillaliz /mozillahack /shirtzilla /imagebroken And my favorite: www.cafepress.com/tinderbox :) But my point is that there is no official mozilla.org store, and there should be.

I don't know how they operate for this type of relationship, but I would recommend contacting ThinkGeek.

Think Geek is a great shopping site & they host O'Reilly Gear http://www.thinkgeek.com/interests/oreilly/ O'Reilly may be interested too, I suspect they'll sell a few books based on Mozilla's technology ;) http://www.oreilly.com/ While we're on the subject of books, Amazon would be a hit for Xmas. http://www.amazon.com or Stuffed Bird toys... http://www.ty.com/3_detail?id=809 http://www.ty.com/3_detail?id=369 I'm sure you can think of a few others that open source affectionados visit. What goes good with books?... *Mozilla Coffee* was recently posted to our LUG list http://www.rjtarpleys.com/mozillacoffee.html Finally, I want a Firebird/Thunderbird logo on mah Gaming Box window, complete with UV backlights... http://www.pcmods.com/ http://www.tomshardware.com/game/20030817/index.html If the Mozilla Foundation doesn't do it, someone else will & may not even kick back a profit percentage. -HTH

At http://www.bengoodger.com/mt-engine/mt-comments.cgi?entry_id=537, Ben says: "Yes, we want a Firebird tshirt. It's likely that new Mozilla tshirts will become available first... but I would expect Firebird tshirts to be available by 1.0."
