the page seems to look ok) but then the browser crashes a moment later.

There's no crash dump or anything. It just quietly blinks out.

Mozilla 1.2.1 is too old to report bugs.
Please upgrade at least to 1.5a or a current nightly, create a new profile and
if the crash persits the reopen this bug.
Marking as invalid.

This bug should not be marked as "resolved invalid". If there's a request
pending to try it under 1.5a or a current nightly and try again, then by
definition the matter is still unresolved.
It's really simplest if someone already running 1.5a to check whether the crash
still happens, by visiting the url in the bug report, than for me to download
and install a whole new browser just to click one url. Could someone do that
please?

No code was added to Mozilla due to this bug, so it can't be marked as FIXED.
