User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.5b) Gecko/20030904 Firebird/0.6.1+
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.5b) Gecko/20030904 Firebird/0.6.1+
When I'm connecting through the proxy, I'm getting asked each time for my login
and password, although I saved them. When I go and see into saved password, what
I can see is :
proxy.xxx.xx (accèèèès internet)
proxy.xxx.xx (accèèès internet)
proxy.xxx.xx (accèès internet)
proxy.xxx.xx (accès internet)
proxy.xxx.xx (accs internet)
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Run Firebird
2. Logon on proxy
3. Check password saved
Actual Results:
see above
Expected Results:
Just save one instance of password, the first one like :
proxy.xxx.xx (accs internet)

Works for me using Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.5b)
Gecko/20030905 Firebird/0.6.1+
Please try installing into a new directory and creating a new profile, using the
MozillaFirebird.exe -p switch, and report your results here
I just tried saving a username/password with è in it, if there's specific steps
to try, please provide more details.
Summary: Saved password are not well identified when proxy address contains "è" → Saved password are not well identified when proxy address contains "è"

Tested with Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.5b)
Gecko/20030905 Firebird/0.6.1+
With new installation and new profile.
Problem remains the same. Windows default language is French.
No problem occurs for sites without accents.
By the way, I don't know why the "description" which is (accès internet) is
stored and not only the proxy address.

As you can see, it is the "basic realm" which cause the problem

As you can see here, letter "é" is not well identified in the password manager
listing.

Still present into :

Problem seems to come from character coding issue in signons.txt :

Bug is still there. Should I continue to report this bug, as it seems all my
reports go to a black hole somewhere in cyberspace ?
Is some additional information necessary ?
Thanks.

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.5) Gecko/20031007 Firebird/0.7
I've got the same problem when accessing Internet through the proxy of my company.
The first time I have specified my login/password with option to remember these
datas. I can see the relative entry in the password manager.
But if I close Firebird and re-open it to access Internet, the login and
password fields are blank and I have to fill them again, causing a new entry to
be stored in the password manager.
If I look carefully the entries in the password manager or the contents of the
signons.txt file, I can see the same issue as the one reported by Yann : with
the proxy name and port, I got a description/remark field in which, some
characters (ê, é, è, à in my case) are not properly taken into account by
Firebird. In each entry, the "garbage" characters are different causing, I
suppose, Firebird to think it's a new site.
Extract of signons.txt :

I was using previously Firebird 6 and 6.1 without any problem with this proxy. I
have also tried with Mozilla 1.5 (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0;
en-US; rv:1.5) Gecko/20031007) : no problem.
All the tests have been done with an installation from scratch (no previous
profile or whatever file).
Is it really necessary for the password manager to take care of this information
field ? Proxy name and port should be enough for identification ...

Confirmed in latest Dec-02 build. Not related to proxies, simply happens
whenever the HTTP auth realm contains an extended character. The Password
Manager encodes the realm incorrectly and reiterates the enconding process every
time this particular pwd is stored again, resulting in multiple records as on
the pic attached.

Just one additional remark concerning this bug :
I don't know if the other persons that have reported this issue can confirm, but
in my case, each time when I use a Firebird installed from scratch (tested on
both the 0.7 milestone or recently the 28/12/03 night build), Firebird reaches
to properly handle all the informations coming from the proxy (even the special
characters), as I can see in the Tools/Options window or in the signons.txt file.
The problem seems only to start when Firebird has to get authentified the second
time.

I confirm that I'm also plagued by this bug. The internal alcatel proxy server
contains extended characters in its url/message. What happens is the following.
I launch firebird. I want to access a url ouside alcatel's realm so the proxy
password pops up. Its fields are empty. I fill them in, check the 'remember
password' check box and ok. Now the requested url is loaded. I I look in the
password manager dialog, the proxy url is correctly presented. If I stop
firebird and relaunch, and repeat the steps above, I see two entries for the
proxy. The first one in which the extended characters have been garbled, and the
second one which is correct for the duration of the firebird session.
It looks something like:
<proxy of alcatel>:<port> (l'accès àInternet : Vous
êtes invité àconsulter la charte d'utilisation du
Système d'Information de votre société.)
It should be <proxy of alcatel>:<port> and should filter out the comments behind
it, or store them correctly. Somehow IE is doing this correctly.
I'm using an english version firebird .7+, build of 08-01-04, under locale
english US, with a french installation of windows 2000.

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7a) Gecko/20040120
Firebird/0.8.0+ (scragz)
Seems corrected in this version. Had the infinite pleasure to have my login and
password appear in the box.
I'm just hoping that those 4 months of nightmare are over !
Thanks for having this bug fixed.
