Details

Firebird.exe statically links to most of the components it needs so the Mozilla
ActiveX control wouldn't work even if it wanted to. The control shouldn't be
distributed with Firebird.

Could anyone comment on what this means for issues such as bug 209562?

Probably that this is the explanation for the earlier problems. I had
experienced the problem myself and it had me stumped. Today I was idly looking
at the firebird dist and noticed the executable looked strangely large when it
dawned on me...

I will dupe this against the earlier one with the direction that the control
shouldn't be there when firebird is built statically.
