I'm not sure if this is a bug ofr a feature, but selecting "undo" after deleting a message causes the "trash" folder to be stealthily opened and downloaded in the background. This slows the products responsiveness significantly! (If you have a large trash folder, like I do ;-) Anyway, logging this a s a bug. If it's not a bug, just INVALID it.
This may not be a bug. In theory, copying messages to the trash folder doesn't require to select the trash folder (meaning loading). However, undo a delete requires to store the deleted flag to the message which must be done in the selected state. This basically the reason to open the trash folder in the background. I'll look into to make sure this is the case.

In order to be able to undelete a deleted message we have to store the deleted flag to the message copied to the trash folder. To do that the trash folder needs to be in a selected state. That's the reason why we are loading the trash folder in the background. Marking this bug as wontfix.

We need to be in the selected state, but that doesn't mean we have to download all the headers. remember liteSelect?
Fix checked in. Make sure we are in selected state by using lite select service then refresh the folder if needed.

Ugh, I'm seeing this again with IMAP. Symptoms are: 1. Delete message from inbox 2. Choose "Edit -> Undo Delete Message" 3. Trash folder loads in the background. Furthermore, 4. While folder is loading in the background, new messages that get selected as a result of a "delete" operation do not display. You can *force* a message to display by clicking on them in the thread pane, but the "autodisplay" that should happen (delete+select next) doesn't work.

PDT: Because (4) creates a very confusing application state, I think we should consider this a beta blocker.

I don't know if this helps but, after switching to another folder, all of the messages I had previously "autoselected" by clicking delete showed up in rapid succession in the message pane. After which, switching back to my Inbox returned things to "normal". Looks like maybe operations are being queued up somewhere?

Beta 1 has come and gone, and this didn't get resolved. However, this should make the nsbeta3 cut under "correctness." Removing Beta1 keyword, nominating for nsbeta3 and "correctness."

I don't see this behavior using linux rh6.0, aug08 m18 commercial build. Am using IMAP, new profile, MoveToTrash.

per mail triage, reassign to naving. Perhaps we can mark this "worksforme" per Laurel's recent findings?

Interesting. I know I can't make this happen again, but I am seeing this in the 9/26 Win32 MN6 build. I deleted a message and undid the deletion. Now, the unread count on my Trash folder is incrementing and I'm not currently doing anything in the mail windows (Inbox selected). One thing I did before this was that I was in 4.x mail and used it to delete a few messages before I started Netscape 6.

this happened to me yesterday - undo is still (or again) doing a select of the trash and downloading headers.
