User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.6b) Gecko/20031209 Firebird/0.7 StumbleUpon/1.899 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.6b) Gecko/20031209 Firebird/0.7 StumbleUpon/1.899 No Flash movie is displayed on the Macromedia.com hompepage due to incorrect embedding. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Go to the URI given (Macromedia homepage) with ECMAScript and Macromedia Flash enabled. Actual Results: A Macromedia Flash movie was not shown. Expected Results: The author intended a Macromedia Flash movie at the URI, http://www.macromedia.com/swf/homepage/fma/en_us/FMA.swf , to be displayed at the top of the page. It seems that this bug is caused by Macromedia.com embedding Macromedia Flash movies incorrectly and is an incarnation of bug 180378 (the general bug for this problem). The object element is created by external ECMAScript. The object element created by the script has no data attribute<http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/struct/objects.html#adef-data> (but instead uses the param element in a non-standard way that only MSIE understands). Bug is present in Mozilla, MFb and Opera.
Site wfm Moz 2004011409 [ad for Director MX 2004]. I looked at the site yesterday and it also noticed that their main flash part was missing. Since i upgraded my build since, i don't know if THEY fixed it, or the new MOZ made it go away. Can you try again, after clearing your cache?

Marked invalid. I should have checked with clean profile. Although it did not work for me with my relatively recent builds of SeaMonkey & MFb before -- I can't download the latest due to restrictions on my Internet access -- it now *WFM* with the same builds with a clean profile. Macromedia have *not* changed their webpage and they still use the object element incorrectly. There is a non-standard embed element within the object element which is probably how Gecko is displaying it correctly. I have no idea why it would not display in my normal profiles -- this seems very strange. And, yes, Macromedia Flash movies displayed fine with both browsers with the normal profile when embedded in pages that follow the HTML standard.

Maybe this is a bug with Mozilla that causes this site not to work with non-fresh profiles for some reason, but I don't know how this could be verified/investigated.
i guess the proper resolution for this one would be WFM. After all, it works for you and it works for me :) IMHO invalid is typically reserved for things like "it's not a bug, it's a feature" Anyway, i'll leave it like this and happy you managed to get things working
