Details
User-Agent: Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7a) Gecko/20040127 Firebird/0.8.0+ (stipe) I have a 'bookmark' in my Bookmarks Toolbar Folder which is actually a saved Tabs layout, i.e., it switches to tabbed-view and opens several URLs. But it only works if I've already changed to a non-homepage URL. If I try to load it while still viewing my homepage (or any URL in the homepage's domain), then the tabs will load but the first window will remain on the homepage; the first URL of the bookmark never loads. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.

do you mean a group of bookmarks using Open in Tabs, or are you trying to load multiple tabs from a single bookmark?

I have a bookmark in my Toolbar labeled "all". When I click on it, it drops-down a list of web-sites and there's a link at the bottom labeled "Open in Tabs". When I click on that, it opens all the sites in tabs. The bug I've reported manifests at this point, i.e., the original window/tab doesn't always change.

FYI - I tried to recreate this on a 2004-03-20 build of Mozilla (the Suite, not Firefox) and it seems to work correctly. I don't plan on testing on any Firefox nightlies, though. Instead, I'll post after 0.9 comes out.

This is still re-broke with Firefox 0.9 (on WinXP.SP1)

still works for me. Are you using any extensions? You can try running Mozilla Firefox (Safe Mode) and see if the problem persists.

No, I'm not using any extensions. I've even tried recreating the tabbed bookmark and it still does fails. Are you sure you're testing it the same way I am? I think the testcase may require that your homepage be on a server in the same domain as your workstation. I say this because the failure still happens if I'm viewing any page on the homepage's *server*, i.e., it's not just the homepage itself.

using firefox 0.9 and cannot replicate bug. Easier steps: go to manage bookmarks create new folder place multiple bookmarks in folder close that window go to bookmarks>folder>open in tabs

Michael, thanks for testing "my" bug. I tried it your way and it still fails for me. Are you viewing your homepage when you select Open In Tabs, and is your homepage in the same DNS domain as your workstation?

changed the Summary to mention home domain rather than homepage
Summary: opening a 'tabs' bookmark doesn't switch away from homepage → 'Open in tabs' bookmark won't switch away from local domain

(In reply to comment #10) > Michael, thanks for testing "my" bug. I tried it your way and it still fails > for me. Are you viewing your homepage when you select Open In Tabs, and is your > homepage in the same DNS domain as your workstation? Sorry for the slow reply. I am o a dial-up account and I set my homepage as techtv.com just because it was not one of the bookmarks i tested. I am on that homepage when i tested it and i had no problem. Maybe it is a problem with the actual pages? Please post your homepage and the bookmarked pages so we could test them.

sorry, but my home page is my company's intranet page (proprietary info) so I can't post it. You haven't (nor has anyone else...) confirmed that your test includes a homepage that's in the same DNS domain as your workstation. Since the problem occurs for me if I'm viewing *any* Intranet page, I assume it's not anything related to the particular HTML (though all our Intranet pages might have code in common) P.S. This problem still occurs with Firefox 0.9.2

Installed 1.0-PR over my existing 0.9.3 and my multi-tab bookmark didn't break! In the past, I've had to recreate it with each new version.

I'm so silly. My previous comment only says that the SECOND bug I reported is now WFM - the original bug is still in effect.

This now seems to work?! Firefox 1.0-RC2 on WinXP. Changing status to WFM.

ugh. This bug is back again, in official FF 1.0 on WinXP. I even tried deleting and recreating the multi-tab bookmark and testing with that. Obviously, this bug was only 'fixed' by accident in RC2

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.8b2) Gecko/20050328 Firefox/1.0+ With this build this WFM. But, one strange thing that I observed is that the animation that shows that page is loading is not displayed on the first tab when you open multiple tabs. And, this happens only home page is loaded for the first time.

(using FF 1.02 on WinXP-SP2) Well, I may have narrowed this down a bit. I tried changing my home page, from my internal Intranet page to an outside site (one not included in my tabbed-bookmark). The tabbed bookmark now opens correctly. I restored my original homepage setting and the problem returned, too. So it appears that there's something about my Intranet that blocks FF from opening a tabbed bookmark correctly. This seems pretty rare so I don't know what's the proper thing to do with this bug -- I think it's a valid bug but doubt it affects many people.

This bug was last touched before 1.0.4. Is it still reproducable? Try the latest branch build (1.0.5): http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/ Try the latest nightly trunk build (v1.0+): http://www.mozilla.org/developer

it appears to work ok. I'm not using the original machine now, though, so it's not a true test but it's good enough for me change this bug to WORKSFORME
