User-Agent: Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040115 A feature which is implemented to different extents in different mail managers is the ability to move folders (especially folders of more than 1 level of depth) from the local mail store onto a IMAP server without having to first create the folder on the IMAP server and then drag the messages across. This can take hours when dealing with lots of deep folders and proves to be impractical. It would be great if thunderbird could fully implement this. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Drag folder from local folder store to IMAP server 2. 3. Actual Results: Disallowed Expected Results: Move local folder to IMAP Server (by creating folder(s) and then moving messages)

Another similar feature, which we would need urgently, is moving of folders from one IMAP-Server to another IMAP-Server. Btw., other mail clients (like Outlook or Apple Mail) are already able to do this. So we currently help ourselves by deploying these foreign mail clients for moving the mail folders. I guess, this feature could be implemented together with this bug 235013, that's why I don't want to create a new bug report.

David, any news about your work here? Is it possible to get this fix in for 1.8beta?

I am very much interested in this feature, as our university is interested in moving around 1700 users from a POP3/Eudora 6.2 solution to an IMAP/Thunderbird 1.0 solution. CC'ing myself to the list.

this does local folder to imap server, and cross imap server copies. It handles nested folders as well. It forces the operation to be a copy, just to be on the safe side with error handling...I need to fix progress for this, but I think that's in another area of the code.
