I didn't think changing it was a big deal at first, but I got to one of the rare
sites that asked me to right-click save target as. I tried to look for it, and
couldn't find it then realized "save link to disk" was the same thing

So I think it should be renamed to "save target as"like IE or "save link target
as"to be like Mozilla and be more specific.

Whilst I agree that the wording should be chosen for maximum usability,
I suspect that the majority would prefer "Save Link ..." over "Save
Target ..."

This is silly.

There is nothing wrong with "Save Link". I know what a "Link" is.

What the heck does "Save Target" mean? What is a "Target"?

I believe the wording is correct now. My point is that we are actually saving
the target (ie: picture, movie) to the disk, not the actual link.

Yes, i know it's rare that people can confuse and think that it's actually
saving the actual link, but you never know.
It can get confusing when we use Link for multiple things. I was confused when
I first started using Firefox (call Phoenix then). On the context menu you get
presented with these options in one group (between two dividers):

- Bookmark This Link...
- Save Link to Disk...
- Send Link...
- Copy Link Location

Of the four that refer to link, three deal with the URI, and one deals with the
contents of where the URI points (which IE refers to as the target of a link).
I believe the new wording is an improvement, but it still sounds like we are
creating a .url file and saving it somewhere.

On the Windows platform, saving a link is virtually synonymous with creating a
shortcut. We don't need to copy IE, but we should at least blend in with the
platform lingo a bit better, and not use the same term to refer to two different
things.

I was going to file this today if this bug didn't exist.
We're talking about the contents, not the link itself. So, IMO, this bug should
be reopened, and the description should be changed again, into something
"target"-related. Jeremy explained it well.

Hardware and OS should also be changed, since afaik the UI description for the
menus is just one for all platforms.
