When doing a local folder search, we open the mail folder for each message we look at, instead of caching the open file handle and just seeking to the next message. We could also use more efficient file reading routines.
patch for this is in bug 197166, and will be fixed by the checkin for that bug.
fixed. Brendan, local msg body search should be quite a bit faster on linux, with less disk churning.
