Build 2000011212M13: Linux 6.0 Build 2000011813M13: Mac 8.5.1 I wasn't able to find this reported. Sorry if this is a duplicate. Overview: When the Mail login dialog appears a cursor is displayed. Try typing your Mail Password and it doesn't appear to accept the information, the asterisks don't appear. Steps to reproduce: 1. Open Mail and notice that a cursor appears in the Mail login dialog. 2. Enter your Mail Password and press OK (or Enter) Actual Results: It reports an error "login incorrect". If I click into the Mail Login dialog first, then start typing, then asterisks appear and the password is accepted. Expected Results: When the Mail Login dialog appears a cursor should be displayed. The user should be able to start typing and press OK or Enter for the password to be accepted. It should not require an extra click at the beginning of this process. Additional Information: - NT4 build 2000011416M13: The cursor displays in the Mail login dialog and typing immediately shows asterisks. No need for an extra click.

Correction: It doesn't say "login incorrect" and just displays the same dialog to enter your password.

Actually, doesn't it fallback to some other authentication method, using a similar dialog? In any case, this sounds like a focus issue, possibly a dup. reassigning to saari.

This is still a Mac and Linux problem only. Updating the Status Whiteboard to reflect this.

On Mac today, I don't even see a caret... which was different than my build from yesterday with my changes, so I suspect that something changed under me yet again.

Guessing, and this is only a guess, that this will be fixed when we land the focus memory changes. In anycase, it is pointless to look at this until then.

Now is linux only... grr, should have been fixed. Linux is slightly different with this dialog and I don't know why. It caused other problems earlier. Other dialogs seem to be fine.
