User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040113 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040113 I have popup blocker enabled. The site http://www.popuptest.com/ lists some tests to check if a browswer is effectively able to block popups. Mozilla fails at the test given on URL http://www.popuptest.com/popuptest4.html - when you go to the URL and move the mouse over the link in that page, a popup comes up. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Just go to the URL http://www.popuptest.com/popuptest4.html 2. Move mouse over the link in the URL 3. You'll see a popup coming up even though you might have blocked popups. Actual Results: A popup appeared. Expected Results: The popup should have been blocked.
Hm, the answer from my tests is yes, no and no more. :) I can't reproduce this with any build if I open the page, read the text and take some time to move over the link. I can reproduce it with Mozilla 1.6 if I open the page and run over the link as fast as I can. Alternatively I click somewhere on the empty room of the page and immediately move the mouser over the link. But even under this circumstances it doesn't work anymore with Mozilla 1.7 or newer. Does it work in your Moz 1.6 for each case? Anyway, I think it was a bug or flaw in the blocker that has been fixed though I didn't find a corresponding bug. Would you please test this bug with a recent build and add a comment on the result?
(In reply to comment #1) > But even under this circumstances it doesn't work anymore with Mozilla 1.7 or newer. It doesn't work with 1.7/1.8a2. onmouseover is not an allowed event for popups anymore, see pref dom.popup_allowed_events from Bug 197919. IMHO you could resolve this bug as WORKSFORME.
I also have found a page that seems to get around Mozilla 1.8a2's popup blocker. When I go to dabs.com (http://www.dabs.com/) a popup window (proper Mozilla browser window in smaller size) sometimes appears. Sometimes it does not. I cannot work out how it is triggered. But it is annoying, and where one goes, many, many others will follow. Hopefully this method can be investigated by the wise people, and blocked.
Similar Error. Popup's are shown at: http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/ I tried same site on IE 6 (with Windows XP SP2 RC2) and IE blocked all popups. This was not repeatable. i.e. Mozilla did blocked popup 80% of the times. So, may be popup is shown on the first time when you open a fresh browser. I am using Windows XP and Mozilla 7 ----text from about mozilla ------------------------------------------------ Mozilla 1.7 Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040514 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The dabs.com popup happens for me with Firefox 0.9.3.
WFM Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.2; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20040914 Firefox/0.10
Product: Browser → Seamonkey
For the original reported URL this is WFM with current trunk builds. onmouseover popups are blocked. Fixed by Bug 197919.
