Confirming on 0.9. I have also noted that this area is all green (no bubble with the 'i' in it). This however I cannot reproduce or say what causes it.

FYI, that 0.9 has "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040614 Firefox/0.8" in the about box.
Removing blocking0.9 request.

I have had a similar problem since the .9rc was released. Everytime I launch a Firefox browser windows I get a small popup in the bottom corner notifying me there are updates available for my browser. I click the little I balloon icon and it takes me to the download page. I download the windows install file form the site and I still get the same message. This has happened on .9rc, .9., and now .9.1. This only happens on a sony laptop I have. The other computers I own work fine. Using the following build on Win XP Pro SP1. Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040626 Firefox/0.8
Confirming using firefox 0.9.1 Have only had this problem since i installed 0.9.1 (having 0.9.0). Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040626 Firefox/0.8

I click the little I balloon icon > and it takes me to the download page. I'm getting the same behaviour since installing 0.9.1, except that clicking on the "click here" popup in the corner of the screen does nothing. The icon in the bottom right of the browser window always shows 1 and, when double-clicked, tells me there's the update I just installed. Uninstalling and re-installing does not appear to fix the problem. Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040626 Firefox/0.9.1

furthermore, this area should simply be removed when no updates are avaible (and thus disabled if you uncheck the "check for firefox&extensions on startup" from advanced options this would be something to fix before 1.0; on a 800x600 resolution, even this small space is something I wish to have free on my status bar.
