We need a new palm sync XPI for 0.7.
It needs to take advantage of the new extension manage APIs, inserting the
mozilla palm sync components in profile\extensions\<extension guid>\components
along with an extension install.rdf

The absense of the palm sync extension is a show stopper for most palm users to
migrate to TB0.7. What is the time frame is for getting the palm sync extension
ported to TB0.7?
Thanks,
Gordon

I second this. It's a shame that the palm sync capabilities are not a top
priority in TB development. Makes a lot of business people stick to OE/Outlook
and that's an even greater shame.
Please, anyone?
I second that too. There shouldn't be this "palm sync" delay after every new TB
release, should it. The palm sync should be developed closer to TB core to avoid
these problems (in terms of developer efforts). Maybe it should be redesigned to
simplify further development. As the previous poster stated, the ability to sync
(palm) is of major importance.

we've been working on making palm sync part of the regular release build, which
will make it stay in sync with other mailnews changes. Needing a new extension
wrapper is a one-time change to go along with the new extension manager api's,
which I haven't had time to look into at all.

Hi David,
Thanks for shedding some light on what's going on. I am encouraged that you are
working on making the Palm sync part of the regular releases. Could you please
at least provide a projected time frame to have something that we can move past
T-Bird 0.6 with?
Thanks again,
Gordon

I'd hope to have an xpi that works with tbird .8, if the extension wrapper stuff
isn't too hard to add.

Hi David,
Good luck with the wrapper stuff.
Thanks for the reply and time frame.
Gordon
Any updates on Palm sync to Thunderbird. We are looking to migrate several
hundred PC's but we need Palm capability.

It turns out we don't need a new extension wrapper - Ben says we can use the old
format xpi files - Palm Sync won't show up in the Extension Manager list of
installed extensions, but you can install the xpi file. This is good because the
new extension manager doesn't have the capabilities we need for the Palm Sync
extension. We apparently need to wait for the 2.0 Extension Manager for that.
I'll build an xpi file for the .8 tbird soon and attach it to bug 214407

Hi David,
The new 0.8 extension for Palm Sync appears to work right out of the box with
T-Bird 0.7x. I installed and tested it with T-Bird 0.73 and everything appeared
to function properly on my first installation attempt.
Thanks,
Gordon

i just installed palm sync on tb 0.72 and it works. BUT it syncs the collected
addresses and not the personal address book or my extra business address book.
is there any way to set this up?

No special setup should be required. If you set the following env var in windows:
set MOZ_CONDUIT_LOG=c:\mozconduitlog.txt
and then run thunderbird, and e-mail or attach the log, I can look at it.

Is it still the case that Extension Manager 2.0 will provide the needed capability and is there a bug # we can reference? The only thing I see is http://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox:2.0_Extension_Manager
