Actual Results: Window was opened and then closed. Expected Results: Installer should have started.
forced close on Import Wizard. Main browser window was displayed. None of the IE bookmarks were imported.
I have also experienced this problem on a fresh install of SP2.

Confirming based on dupe. If this is our fault, this is a serious blocker for the PR or at least the 1.0 release.

wonder if this might be related to http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=250289 ? would need more information on config settings where this is reported.

installer begins, but does not complete. I left it all night, and nothing ever happened. Can firefox find plugins already installed for explorer or netscape?
It have install Firefox several times on Windows XP SP2 and it has never failed for me.
Had exactly the same result with OS/2 version of Mozilla 1.8B2 dated 8th April - start installer, small window opens starts extracting .xpi files, window closes, and that's it - nothing else happens, no error messages, nothing installed. On another note, I have been trying the OS/2 EMX nightly version and this works well. I am quite impressed with the current versions speed as older versions were rather slow
I cannot reproduce this bug on Windows XP SP2 machine Gateway notebook has not an issue for me.

I have installed Firefox on computers that were upgraded to SP2 and others that had slipstreamed installs of SP2, and I've never seen this problem. If anyone can reproduce this behavior, try to troubleshoot it and see if it's not some kind of software configuration problem. SP2 has been out for more than a year now after all, so this bug could probably lose the blocker status since it appears to affect very few people.
I cannot recreate this problem - using: - new install of XP SP2 with no patches and Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.1) Gecko/20060111 Firefox/1.5.0.1 - new install of XP SP2 plus all patches as of 03/12/2006 and Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.1) Gecko/20060111 Firefox/1.5.0.1
The import wizard mentioned in comment #0 is the Migration component. As for the installer not working on XP SP2 I am resolving this bug WFM based on latest comments and personal experience.
