User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040704 Firefox/0.9.1 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040704 Firefox/0.9.1 I know that my slashdot comments are not specially good, but FFox seems to dislike them more than anybody. I would say 70% of times I try to reply a slashdot comment on an article (not the original article itself), FFox starts to go wild. Here is what top says: PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND 15744 c0p0n 25 0 63824 34m 33m R 97.1 6.8 0:44.20 firefox-bin So I have to terminate the process. Last time it was running by almost 1hr (I was curious to know if it was a temporal hung), so I think that it ended totally crazy. Curious thing about this is that FFox 0.8 hunged (segfaulted) on another slashcode website (www.barrapunto.com), this time when clicking on a comment link. It did that always, but when FFox 0.9 arrived that behaviour dissapeared. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open slashdot.org 2. Click "reply" on any comment 3. Wait a couple of seconds for some magyck!! Actual Results: FFox getting all CPU time. Expected Results: FFox working normally, and not getting all CPU time. Software: - Gentoo on x86, this optimizations are used: CFLAGS="-march=athlon-xp -O3 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" CXXFLAGS="-march=athlon-xp -O3 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" - Athlon XP 2100+, 512 MB RAM - KDE 3.2.3 - GTK 2.4.4 - Built with GCC 3.3.3 - All is built from source - If there is something more I can provide, please ask. I do not remember which version of every lib I used to compile ffox, but if there's a way to know, please tell me.

Summary: FFox 0.9.1 crashes when replying slashdot comment → FFox 0.9.1 hangs when replying slashdot comment
I am using FireFox 0.9.3 on windows 98. I was logged in trying to reply to http://yro.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=04/09/02/1817252&tid=109&tid=155&tid=1&tid=106 I copied from ron_ivi Comment the balmer quote, which spans two lines in display. Then i clicked reply. The browser hangs, only symptons are now that it tries to load from ads.osdn.com Sometimes, the ad on the top seems to display incompleteley. After restart, Personal Toolbar site icons are gone, so I guess the cache ends up corrupted or cleaned. Maybe I'll try to install adblock extension to see if it is the image. No other extensions installed. Ah yes and it would be nice if I could edit those bugzilla report fields that i am not supposed to change
Still using FireFox 0.9.3 on windows 98, but now with adblock extension. The browser also came with the DOM inspector plugin, which i forgot in previous comment. Anyway, I blocked http://ads.osdn.com/ http://images-aud.slashdot.org/ and the result is that the browser now hangs even before displaying the page. I have to CTR-ALT-ENTF + kill it
WFM on Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20041010 Firefox/0.10
