Users aren't discovering one of Firefox's most awesome privacy features, the ability to downgrade cookies to session except for sites on your whitelist. One user even requested that we add the feature (by filing bug 252902) despite the fact that we already have it. Ideas: * Add text to Options > Privacy > Cookies or to the Exceptions dialog explaining that if you select "Keep cookies until I close Firefox", you can allow specific sites to store long-term cookies using the Exceptions dialog. * Go back to using radio buttons instead of a dropdown. Replace "Until I exit Firefox" with "When I exit Firefox, only keep cookies from sites I have whitelisted." Once bug 217199 is fixed, we can remove the "Ask me every time" option and replace the radio group with a single checkbox.
the updated patch for bug 230462 should help with this.
Depends on: 230462
When a site not in my Exceptions list sets a cookie: (o) Accept the cookie ( ) Accept the cookie, but delete it when I close Firefox ( ) Reject the cookie ( ) Ask me or For sites not on my Exceptions list: (o) Store cookies. ( ) Store cookies until I exit Firefox. ( ) Reject cookies. ( ) Ask me when the site sets the cookie. or, if it's ok to eliminate the last two options and replace the Exceptions dialog with a simpler Allowed Sites dialog, [ ] When I exit Firefox, only keep cookies from Allowed sites.
Any plan to implement this? It's been almost two years ago!
