I'm not sure if this should be classed as a bug or a feature, but there seems to
be a deficiency in the way Firefox deals with duplicate bookmarks ... or the way
it doesn't deal with them.

When adding a new bookmark to an existing folder, Firefox doesn't seem to search
for previously entered bookmarks that exactly match the new link. A 'match'
would be on the page title string and/or the embeddded url in the bookmark.

I can drag the same url over and over to a bookmark folder and Firefox allows
this to happen -- making a new bookmark each time. It should warn that the url
already exists.

Moreover, when I drag a url from one folder (eg. an imported set of Internet
Explorer bookmarks) to another folder, Fiefox doesn't seem to have a way to
'overwrite' duplicates and instead creates many duplciates. I have hundreds of
such urls and don't see a way to clean the mess up save by doing it by hand.

Firefox also allows a user to create a folder with the same name as an existing
folder name.

I searched for an extension, but only found one that was supported in an earleir
release. I'm not even sure if that old extension would help me identify and
delete these duplicates.

What I would like to see are two (2) new features:

  1. warn or disallow a duplicate bookmark to be collected.

  2. a method to identify and delete duplicated bookmarks.
This 2nd feature would further have an option to seach all folders
     and identify nested dups.
When dups are found, present the user with a record set that has a
checkbox at the beginning of each row that they can toggle on/off that
is finally used to purge the dups.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Method #1:

1. Drap/Drop current url onto the Bookmark Tookbar
2. Drap/Drop current url onto the Bookmark Tookbar (again)

Method #2:
1. Open "Manage Bookmarks"
2. Create a new folder called 'Test'
3. Create another new folder called 'Test' (this should be disallowed)

Method #3: (after performing Method #1 and #2 above):
1. Open "Manage Bookmarks"
2. Drap drop one of the duplciated bookmarks added in Method #1 to the first
'Test' folder.

3. Drap drop the remaining bookmarks added in Method #1 to the first 'Test'
folder. Notice that you now have 2 identical bookmarks under the 'Test' folder?
 This should be disallowed.

Actual Results:
End up with duplicated bookmarks with no automatic method of identifying nor
removing them.

Expected Results:
Disallow duplicates to be saved.
