On Windows, the names of the three sidebars in the left list were blank, and "add"ing one added a sidebar called "(null)". On other OSs, they were there, but strange things happened when you tried adding and removing (such as names and sidebars disappearing). I can confirm that this has been happening on recent builds on both mswin32 and Linux. Most entries in the My Sidebar 'customize...' dialog have no labels, and when a sidebar is removed and the changes are saved, the bookmarks sidebar loses its label.
Yep, this is bad. So bad we should fix it for M15, but slamm is on vacation ...

I have checked in the fix to the trunk too. The local panel names are ok in my build from today. Marking fixed.

WORKSFORME (except when you add panels after removing them they lose their icons temporarily, but that's probably a known issue) in 2000-04-26-11 W95. Gerv
gerv, that "known issue" is this bug - check the dupes. If saving causes this bug then reopen.
The icon is a separate issue. I filed it as bug 37300.

This bug was originally for the missing panel titles (the text) in the customize dialog. I fixed that. You should verify that the panels have readable titles in the customize dialog (as well as in the sidebar itself).
Reopening for linux. Fixed on mac and windows.

I fixed the bug for the mozilla tree only. I forgot to apply to fix to the Netscape-specific version as well.
