Details
I import an address book, and delete the others. But, if Netscape6 crashes
(which it always does) before I exit from Netscape, the new address book
configuration is not saved.
Furthermore, it does not seem to work well. I type the name in, and it does not
find it! Also, I have to open the address icon explicitly in order to use the
address book. In Netscape 4.7, it automatically looked in the book as you typed
in the e-mail address and completed it for you.
Grendel != Netscape 6

Hmm... somehow this bug got confirmed and I can't change it back to unconfirmed.
Sorry about that, next time I'll try leaving it unconfirmed. I have no idea why
it changed though.
I think the first issue (about configuration not saved) is a known bug.
The second issue is that autocomplete is not functioning against other address
books besides personal and collected. ducarroz has a feature bug to implement
the autocomplete feature

Can we verify that there's a bug here? Otherwise it should be closed as
invalid.

I'm changing the summary to what I think reflects the current bug. The
autocomplete stuff has been fixed I think. moving to M18. If this is a dup,
please mark it as such. I couldn't see anything in chuang's bug list.
Summary: address import doesn't stick, and lacks functionality → Should save address book after import.
Target Milestone: --- → M18

I have been unable to get a build to run since the M14, so I have no way of
testing things. The lastest build crashes on loading on my NT machine.

The address book import now works in build 2000061311. But the functionality is
useless.
1) Autocomplete does not work still
2) The address button in the create mail app does not find the e-mail addresses
(the search button never becomes active).
3) There seems no way to click on an e-mail recipient's address and to get it
into your PERSONAL (named) address book. The collected names is pretty useless
if you are on a few mailing lists. It gets swamped with useless names.

Right now, the address book is working better except for the following problems:
1) There is no search a name window in the sddress book to find an entry. In a
big address book, scolling the address list is jerky and diffisult. The old
Netscape's interface was far superior. 2) Importing an LDIF from Netscape 4.76
leaves out some of my long lists. Not sure if this is due to the list boing too
long or because there is a limit on the number of lists (it is near the end of
the alphabet). It is definitely in the LDIF file. I filed this as a separete bug
and sent the ldif file, and that was the last I heard about it.... 3) Entering
an address by clicking on a sender address works badly. The full name gets put
in the name field. But when you enter the first or last name separately, the
full name disappears. This is awkward if you cannot remember the name or how to
spell it.
