Using 2000-06-22-08 m17 commercial build linux rh6.0 Possibly side effect of other current filter bugs: bug #43361 or bug #43169? When choosing New to open a blank/new filter rules dialog the application hangs. Can't use the subdialog, can't close or cancel it, can't exit application. 1. Launch to mail window. 2. Edit|Message Filters. 3. Click New Button to open blank/new Filter Rules dialog. Result: can't type filtername or otherwise use the dialog. Can't dismiss it in any way. Can't quit/exit from mail... application is in a hung state.
Dogfood and/or beta2 because of application hang, user can't create new filters through ui.

Mac OS 9.0 is worse. Can't force quit, machine unresponsive. Must reboot

uh oh, I'm not seeing this on linux... will investigate further
though I actually get an assertion about "removing a non-child" or something in raptorview. might be related.
this appears to be related to the invalid XUL tag issues... after lunch I want to try something with laurel's build, see if I can make it go away.
Putting on beta2 plus radar. There was arleady a related note (nominated for dogfood) that you couldn't edit filter lists. The review group concluded that editing filters was not done all the time, and hence this was just barely less than dogfood. ...but we certainly want this stuff fixed RSN, and it would hold beta2.

just an update -- in jun23 commercial build clicking Edit filter hangs/crashes, too.

Luis - please check this on the Mac and Win32 platforms and note your findings here.
Since this is a dogfood bug, I'm going to go ahead and verify. Luis has a number of other bugs on his resolved list. OK using jul6 commercial build NT 4.0 OK using jul5 commercial build Mac OS 9.0
