Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.1) Gecko/20090624 Firefox/3.5 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.1) Gecko/20090624 Firefox/3.5 Prior to firefox 3.5, if "always show the tab bar" was checked, firefox did not shut down with "ctrl-w". Now it does. And there seems to be no shortcut to shut the tab without shutting the browser. This is especially a drawback in my netbook where I have firefox always in full screen mod and don't know if the tab I am closing is the last one. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 0. Check (or uncheck) "always show tab bar" under Edit>Preferences>Tabs 1. Hit ctrl-w 2. Watch as the browser shuts down instead of just the tab 3. Wait for the netbook to start firefox again... Actual Results: ctrl-w shuts down browser Expected Results: ctrl-w should close tab and "open" a blank one
Sorry I can't tell you the exact preference but there is a preference in about:config that you can toggle to not close Firefox when the last tab is closed, this will fix the issue. Should be called something like browser.tabs.lasttabclose If you can't find it or someone else doesn't respond, I'll post back to let you know the exact preference
browser.tabs.closeWindowWithLastTab
