As soon as you hit a key, any visible tooltip should go away. This prevents them 
from obscuring your typing. Currently, tooltips for composer toolbar buttons are 
really annoying when you type on the first line of a document.

Similarly, pink, your watch cursor should not cause a cursor hidden with 
ObscureCursor to become visible again.

a half hour of work to do this.

I'd like this reconsidered for RTM -- see the attached screenshot. I get this at 
least once per day, when a certain combination of a sweeping left-ward selection, 
release, and typing causes the tooptip to totally obscure the URL bar when I'm 
trying to type.

Another solution would be to have a pref to turn off tooltips altogether. We had 
this in 4.x, why don't we have it in Mozilla?

The time for these changes has long past.  We have to stop making non-critical
changes in order to stabilize for rtm. There are thousands of bugs like this in
the product, most of them far worse than this one. We can't afford to fix them. rtm-

This tooltip is driving me nuts, and I expect that most users will find it 
to be a nagging, irritating flaw in the product. I get it "stuck" countless
times a day. Marketing will hate this suggestion, but it would be better to 
have no tooltip, than one that will just **** people off.

Hear hear. 4.x had a global pref to turn off tooltips. Why don't we have one now?

more than anything.

This doesn't look fixed in my latest CVS builds, and I have reports it isn't
fixed in the latest nightly under Linux either.. Anyone have confirmation of it
actually being fixed?

this only works with the urlbar and its tooltip. otherwise, i don't get the event.
