9/25 09 m18 commercial I'm getting a crash on exit on win98 again (in some rpc dll.) This crash launches talkback, but talkback crashes due to "not enough thread space" or something similar. I then must dismiss numerous dialogs to completely crash all the way out. No talkback report is sent since it can't even bring up its UI.
Adding crash, nsbeta3 keywords. I recommend this for nsbeta3++.
Keywords: crash, nsbeta3

see also bug 53353- crashing on Win95 as well
Actual crash on exit on win98 again (in some rpc dll.) is fixed Refer the BUG No 53353. Since we are working with the new company www.support.com. It will take sometime to get the fix for this particular crash. (This crash launches talkback, but talkback crashes due to "not enough thread space" or something similar. ) I have included this crash in the list of things to fix. Most

Is it true that this ONLY happens if you hit 53353 first?
Bug http://bugscape.netscape.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2630 may be similar about crashing in fullsoft.dll (talkback file) on Win ME when exiting. I think that bug should be moved over to bugzilla.
This is the first time we are experiencing this crash in fullsoft.dll(or reproducible case).
By the definitions on <http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/bug_status.html#severity> and <http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/enter_bug.cgi?format=guided>, crashing and dataloss bugs are of critical or possibly higher severity. Only changing open bugs to minimize unnecessary spam. Keywords to trigger this would be crash, topcrash, topcrash+, zt4newcrash, dataloss.
Severity: normal → critical
would be nice to get rid of the talkback agent. test-users can also user bugzilla to perform feedback... the talkback part crashes (i am behind a router). (in 1.3a) a start parameter i.e. /notalkbalk would be great...
chris: can you provide more information about your system, build environment, etc? any information about exactly what you were doing at the time of the crash would be helpful also. where you submitting a talkback incident? did you run the talkback.exe manually?
in certain turnus the talkback agent starts itself automatically... i am running win98se and user mozilla 1.3a (because the beta isn't translated yet)... it seems that in fact many people are having this bug. a couple of people have downgraded again... a parameter to get rid of the feedback-agent would be great. it crashed in the moment mozilla starts, usally, when i exit mozilla (one instance of mozilla) then the talkback agent runs-and crashes... i think that now the feedback agent; even more mozilla itself crashed then; because usually i can click on the send or don't send of the feedback-agent and... it works... could it be that mozilla itself crashed when starting the talkback-agent when closing an instance of mozilla? tia (hopefully the bug will be fixed in the next version, at least THE PARAMETER would be nice, because i am working with the ie again for the meantime; every 10th window crashed and that realy sucks ;) chris@lifeforce.de
i am sitting behind a router.

chris: talkback only starts when there is a crash in mozilla...so it looks like you were experiencing crashes on startup and/or shutdown. there were quite a few crashes on mozilla shutdown with Mozilla 1.3a...can you try downloading the latest Mozilla 1.3 Beta and try again? We have fixed A LOT of crash bugs since M130A...so I have a feeling M130B will work a lot better for you. about adding a parameter for disabling talkback, i'm not sure there is any easy solution for that (you can always use a non-talkback build, available on mozilla.org). shiva: any thoughts?
This was a bug in September 2000. What chris was seeing, probably was a Mozilla 1.3a crash on exit. Talkback surely does not crash here. -> WFM
