From a beta feedback post:

Using Composer, I opened an existing file from the
Windows Network Neighborhood, thus resulting in a
file name which was a UNC path (i.e. it began with
\\hostname\ followed by the path on that computer).
So far, so fine.

However, after editing the file, I got an error on
save "Unable to save file", with no further
explanation. Experimentation showed that if I
mapped the UNC path to a free drive letter,
Composer would save the file to the desired
location. However, this is an unsatisfactory
work-around in all situations (I'm going run out
of drive letters very soon).

Kin tested this and it seemed to work. Maybe the problem is related to
write permission, but the fact that you can do it when mapped to a drive letter
would seem to refute that. Are you sure you used the exact path that is mapped
to the drive letter? The "$" at the end of the path must be included when
typing it in the Save dialog. Please test again.
Simon should retest his original attempt, and if there is any problem, kin
will take over while I'm on sabatical.

Reading the discussion, this dosen't seem to be blocking folks anymore, so I'm
marking dogfood-minus.
Today is the beta3 freeze... so this won't make it to beta3 (if there is a fix)
so I'm marking it beta3-minus

I'm trying to updated the depends bug 101953.

Can someone tell me if a testcase stills shows this as broken?
Preliminary tests show works for me, build 2002012304 on Windows ME.
Anybody else?
