Every time I receive a message that a filter moves into a local folder, the
message is duplicated in the destination folder several times. (I've seen up to
68 copies of the same message.)
The filter itself is:
name="Internal releases"
enabled="yes"
type="1"
action="Move to folder"
actionValue="mailbox://nobody@Local%20Folders/QA/Releases"
condition="AND (subject,begins with,[QA] INTERNAL RELEASE)"
All of my IMAP->IMAP filters work fine.
MailNews is set to mark deleted messages rather than move them to the trash
folder, but it doesn't seem to make a difference if I change the pref.

preliminary tests indicate that this works fine for me on NT, and I have no
reason to think it would be different on linux.
This only happens for me when in Mark as Deleted mode and duplicates appear when
I switch back and forth from the IMAP Inbox to destination local folder... I
know we had a bug about switching back and forth causing a problem quite awhile
ago... will look for the bug.
I don't see a problem if I've got pref set to MoveToTrash.
Soo... message will continue to "re-filter" and duplicate sent to destination
until you compact the IMAP inbox.

ah, you're right, Laurel, I bet this is a dup, and I suspect that changing the
pref to delete to trash does make this go away (you might have to shut down and
restart to see a difference).

Sounds right, and would explain the varying number of duplicated messages.
Setting to 'Move to Trash' does trigger 35085, and setting 'Mark as deleted'
triggers 56105 (although the re-filtered messages are not marked as deleted in
the local folder--I don't think there's a delete flag for local folders, so this
makes sense). 'Remove immediately' does the same as 'Move to Trash'.
I guess dupe this one to whichever feels right.

I'm going to leave this open - 56105 describes several problems, including this
one, but this bug is a better description of this particular problem.

I checked in a fix so that we will pay attention to the deleted flag - this
should fix it for you. Please re-open if it doesn't.

Looks good, although there's a slight glitch. Is there a known bug for the
following, or is it a remnant of this one?
The first time the inbox is scanned the message is properly filtered, but it's
shown for a fraction of a second before disappearing (I have 'mark as deleted'
set). The second time the inbox is scanned the message appears, marked deleted,
but is not filtered. (That is, filtering works properly now, but the display
behaviour looks like 'move to trash'.)

hmm, I'll look into that display glitch problem. Does it only happen when you
download messages by clicking on the inbox? I.e., if you already have the inbox
selected, send yourself mail that will get filtered, and then press get new
mail, does the display glitch happen?

Yes, it happens whenever new mail arrives, whether I click 'Get Mail' or not.

I, too, see the same problem in the IMAP inbox display.
I, too, see that the original problem of duplication is corrected.
Marking this bug OK/verified and will log another with specifics of the
lingering issue.
