Build Date & Platform Bug Found:
macos commercial seamonkey build 2001-011904-mtrunk installed on G3/400 OS 9.04
Overview Description:
The user pref "mail.quoteasblock" set to true - assume you are replying to a
real plain text message (NOT Content-Type: text/plain ... format=flowed) in a
HTML compose editor, the nested ">" should display as vertical blue bars.
When you have this user pref set to false, the nested ">" will display as ">"
and not with a vertical blue bar.
Note: It should change the quote in the *HTML* composer, not the plaintext
composer, after replying to a real plaintext msg. To see this bug, you need a
real plain txt mail message that have been replied at least 3 times.
Steps to Reproduce:
0) In 4.7x, create a plain text mail message and sent it to yourself. Reply to
this plain text mail message (using the plain text editor) at least 2-3 times.
1) Edit your 6.0 user pref and add the line
user_pref("mail.quoteasblock", false);
2) In 6.0, open the plain text message with multiple replies.
3) Reply to this msg with a plain text editor
The outer delimitor will have a vertical bar.
The inner nested delimitor should display as ">"
Note: The default setting for this user pref is "true"
Actual Results:
The user pref "mail.quoteasblock" has no effect on the mac.
Expected Results:
With the user pref set to "true", replying to real plain text mail message
(NO flow) will use vertical blue bar as the delimitor for nested replies.
With the user pref set to "false", replying to real plain text mail messages
(NO flow) will use the vertical blue bar only for the outer most reply. The
inner replies will use ">" as the delimitor.

pmock, which actual result do you get? Do you (always) get vertical bars or ">"s?
Can somebody else reproduce this?

This bug is targeted at a Mac classic platform/OS, which is no longer supported
by mozilla.org. Please re-target it to another platform/OS if this bug applies
there as well or resolve this bug.
I will resolve this bug as WONTFIX in four weeks if no action has been taken.

Noanswer from reporter in almost 2 years. IIRC, I doubted back then that this is
a bug. I hjave no Mac and am too lazy to dive into it again. -> WORKSFORME
