Details

(This is a somewhat "private" bug for Beonex, but we don't our own bugzilla
instance yet. Considering that Netscape did the same until recently, I'll just
alienate this mozilla.org bug for now. Sorry.)

This bug will discuss the financial part of bug 36557. See
<http://www.beonex.com/dev>.

No numbers are final (i.e. garanteed) until explicitly said so. However, you
have to be fairly confident that you can keep the numbers mentioned here,
because others will calculate with them. If you only guess, please say so.

Just post here what you would be willing to pay. Or mail me.

It looks like Sun has some interest in this feature, too. Maybe we can calculate
that in.

> And I'd like to know how much e.g. Ben Bucksch charges to get this done.

I'll take 50$/hour for this project for the part I do on my own. (50$, because
this feature is important for Beonex, too.) If I have to hire additional
external contractors, it might depend on their costs.

I cannot say much about time. I'd guess half a manyear (which would mean ~50.000$).

But I'm pulling this number out of the air - quite possible that it's just 3
months or ends up with a manyear or so. Also, we havn't yet dfined the concrete
requirements. I just want to show the order of magnitude we're talking about.

I need to see some signs that we will actually start working on it before I do
an evaluation for better numbers, because the evaluation itself costs
considerable time (->money).

Boa. 25%. Forget it. Also, requiring a membership just to see their prices is
IMO not OK.

Maybe SourceXchance <http://www.sourcexchange.com> is a better option. Provided
by CollabNet, which also provides mozdev.org. But I havn't checked out
SourceXchange in detail yet.
There's also The Free Software Bazaar

Since I am only interested privately (my company uses Outlook/Exchange Server),
I guess I can only offer 10$. When we start like this, this is gonna be a long,
long bug page :)

I recommend filing this request at cosource anyhow. But it should be done by
somebody who finally can give some input to the specification, too (which I
can't). Maybe cosource gives us a discount, because they want to attract
projects like this? Maybe some cosource employee wants to file this request him-
or herself? I'll send them the address of this bug.

The same could be done with sourceExChange, too. Maybe they are eager to host
this project?
(I could not find out the charges there, btw. - probably I'd have to become a
member, too).
I'm not comfortable hijacking Mozilla's bugzilla installation to discuss
Cosource's potential role in this matter, can we move it to a mailing list? You
are welcome to use Cosource-user@cosource.com (subscription info at
http://www.cosource.com/help/lists/user.html ) or I can provide a private forum
if that is preferred.

I'm interested in discussing, among other things, what Cosource has going for it
in this situation and what we can do to eliminate the things it has going
against it. I've fixed the issue with the permissions on the "price calculator,"
as a first step.

Thanks!
I, as a private person, would be willing to spend 15$ for this.
Sorry, if I sound arrogant, but I need at least 1000$ to start working on that.
It currently doesn't look like we're getting that together. I was hoping for
some sponsoring from companies for this feature. But I currently don't have time
to lobby for it.

So, I'm closing this bug as WONTFIX. There'll be other great ways to contribute
money to Mozilla via Beonex. But I need to have time to set them up first :-(.
Stay tuned.
