not already done.

really? I disagree. You're going to have to upgrade all those people who's
newsrc files are out of date - that seems like a pain to me.

I will mark this beta1 keyword so this can be decided at PDT as per david's
comments. Would the upgrading involve lots of work?

Comment 15•26 years ago

doing the work to use the newsrc file has got to be less work than upgrading
plus doing the work to use the newsrc file - upgrading is throwaway code.

Yes. I saw the newsrc files got migrated into
~/.mozilla/<profile>/News/newsrc-<hostname> and there is ui to point to newsrc
file on the account manager....but still need to wait for good build to verify
this bug since there was a crash bug of the password dialog for today's
commercial build....

Used 2000-02-16-08-M14 WinNT/Linux & Mac mozilla/commercial builds:
Verified seamonkey stores the read/unread status of news articles in the newsrc
file for the following OS/Platforms:
Linux6.0: ~/.mozilla/<profile>/News/newsrc-<hostname>
WinNT4.0: c:\User50\<profile>\News\<hostname>
Mac9.0: MacHD|Documents|Mozilla|User50|<profile>|News|<hostname>
Cool! Marking as verified!!
