Tested on 2001053104 NT 4.0, 2001053108 Red Hat 7.0/linux 2.2,
2001053108 on Mac OS 9.0.4

Happens in both themes. (used classic for this example)

If you have big list of mail accounts w/folders, newservers, webmail,
etc..and you scroll to the last server item (usually news) in the "Select
Items for offline usage" window, if you click the twisty (arrow
button that displays/hides your subscribed newsgroups to that particular
server) to the open position, then to the close position: you will
still see the newsgroups displayed. I think it is a refresh problem because
I can move the "Select Items for offline usage" window off the screen
and it 'wipes' away the displaying of the newsgroups.

Steps to Reproduce:
1) have enough mail accounts with folders and a newgroup server with
at least 3 subscribed newsgroups set up.
2) Bring up the "Select Items for offline usage" window:
   -from offline and disk space
   -from Download and Sync window
3) Scroll to the bottom
4) Click the twisty (arrow) to close the list for the last server in your
   window
5) Now click the twist (arrow) to open the list.
6) Do Not scroll down!
7) Click the twisty (arrow) to close the list

Actual Results: You see still the list being displayed even though the list
is closed

Expected Results: To not see the list displayed
I'm getting way more drastic results when I collapse accounts. Thought I'd
mention it here, if we want a separate bug let me know.

I have (win98) usually 7-9 accounts in my main profile, a combination of IMAP,
POP, Webmail, AOL and News accounts. Most of the mail accounts have many
folders, so when all expanded in the select items dialog it can be a large list.
If I collapse accounts in sequence, beginning at the bottom (news accounts) and
working upward in the select items dialog (involving scrolling upward) I will
get results ranging from big blank sections of the select items dialog, an
entirely blank dialog or in one case so far I crashed. Something is really
amiss in handling of collapsing accounts in this dialog.

Will attach a screenshot and talkback stack trace from crash.

Note: scrolling doesn't do anything to refresh the dialog, must close it and try
again.
Changed summary to a generalized one
Summary: offline ui: Select Folders for Offline Usage window: newsgroup list still displayed even though the twisty is set to close → offline ui: Select Folders for Offline Usage window: problems when collapsing accts
Verified my problem cases happen in Classic as well as Modern.
This sounds totally whacked, and I have no idea on what might cause it.

Will look if there is any obvious problems in the code.
I've found that scrolling using the up/down arrow widgets (whereas using the
slider doesn't) will sometimes appear to correct the display, but once you click
in the list area to use the "refreshed" display, the display continues on its
destruction path; each click in the list will degrade the display further.

Doesn't look like this is getting fixed before the freeze tomorrow night.
Pushing out a milestone. Please correct if I'm mistaken.

pushing off to .9.5 - also, this works fine for me. Since this was reported
before we started using the outliner in this dialog, and we're now using the
outliner (is that right, Seth?), then perhaps this is fixed.
Using Commercial trunk builds
2001090408 on NT 4.0, linux 2.2, mac 9.1

I tried restesing my steps and Laurel's steps to reproduce
this problem. I don't see any of the UI problems we
described earlier. Tried in both themes.

Since Seth's outliner fix landed and fixed this, I'll do
everyone a favor and mark this as works for me.

I'll reopen this bug if this problem appears again.

If someone thinks that I shouldn't be do this than please
reopen bug.

Resolving as works for me.
