From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:0.9.1) Gecko/20010607
BuildID: 2001060703

It would be nice to be able to use "F6" or some other hotkey to be able to
change the URL in th "Address Box". Also, it would be nice of there were a list
of the hotkeys available in the "Help" documentation.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.There is no available hotkeys to modify the current URL you are browsing
2.
3.

Actual Results: Nothing

Expected Results: It should change the focus of the cursor to the "Address Bar"
and allow you to either modify the URL or type in a new one
Have you tried Ctrl-L?
That's exactly it. Just wish it was documented in the help somewhere, along with
other hotkeys.
Check out this page in Mozilla for a list of shortcut keys:

Documentation is at
http://www.mozilla.org/projects/ui/accessibility/mozkeyintro.html#xref, as Jatin
notes. That provides the requisite documentation, I believe.

Marking as fixed.

A list of keyboard commands organized by key is useful for discussing the
keyboard ui and may be useful for developers. It's not very useful for users.
Keyboard docs for users should be organized by function (navigation, windowing,
focus, etc) and included with the browser.

Roger, Jesse. Reassigning to Jatin, who I think is working on something like this.

jatin et al., a good example of documented keyboard shortcuts can be found in
Opera. :)
Summary: [RFE] better keybindings documentation → better keybindings documentation
I'd be interested to know where we are on this, and whether my help is needed.
Do we have any end user keyboard documentation at all yet?
steve, jatin, what's the status here? let us know when there's a draft you like
us to review!
Marking as fixed, again. As I noted, there already is keyboard documentation for
developers. Mozilla is a developer platform, not an end-user product. Netscape
will provide end-user documentation on the subject, and other distributions are
free to do so.

Attached file Draft 3: minor changes
Added F4 to drop down combo list

"type first few letters" -> "type first letter"
(to reflect reality until bug 92491 is fixed)

"Force reload, even if cached version seems to be up-to-date"
-> "Force a complete reload of all parts of the page"

"Go to a specific web address" -> "enter a web address to visit"

Changed horizontal margins from ems to percents. This seemed to be the easiest
way to give the table margins but still have the "width:100%" effect. (Is it
possible to make the table have width "100% - margins" or "use as much width as
you can without running into the margins"?)

There are probably some errors in the Mac and Linux versions. One specific
problem is that I didn't know which shortcuts were Accel and which were Ctrl.
I'm on vacation this week (visiting MIT), so it would be great if someone else
could make this into a patch. Bonus points if you add a "Keyboard Shortcuts"
item to the Help menu. (Why a menu item? A list of keyboard shortcuts is more
likely to be used as a reference than other parts of Help, and experienced
browser users won't find most of Help useful and may miss the document if it's
buried.)
Target Milestone: mozilla1.0 → mozilla1.1
Thanks to dru and kryptolus (#mozillazine) for suggesting many of these
changes.

I'm too busy with school to continue working on this right now. Does anyone
want to add attachment 76715 [details] to Mozilla and add the Help menu item?
Target Milestone: mozilla1.1alpha → mozilla1.2alpha
From the draft:

> Forms
> Go to next form element......Tab
> Submit form..................Enter

This combination is dangerous, and should be desactivated IMHO.
To see why, go to any page with a form and and a submit button
next to it (such as the present bugzilla page).

Enter some text in the form, and while at it, type TAB + RETURN
(or here, TAB + TAB + RETURN). Although this is a perfectly
legitimate thing to try to type in a text field, it results in
the form being submitted!

Minor critiques -
In some table rows, you list multiple key combinations that do the same thing:

Reload page to get the newest version CTRL + R
                                              F5
In other table rows, you list multiple key combinations that do different things:

Move to next/previous form element or link Tab
                                              Shift + Tab

This should be made more consistant. Perhaps something like

Move to next form element or link Tab
... previous form element or link Shift + Tab

should be used in the second case.

Also, I don't know what this means:
* In general, the function of Ctrl + Shift + letter is related to the function
of Ctrl + letter.

Are you tyring to say Ctrl + F and Ctrl + f are the same thing?
Okay, I figured out what you mean in the last part. Nevermind that bit.
I now have listed both of those keyboard on http://www.accessmozilla.org.

Here are some differences that I know about in the trunk keyboard support (vs.
what's listed in the pages):

- find prev: Ctrl+Shift+G on all 3 platforms, Shift+F3 on Windows/Linux
- location bar: Alt+D on Windows/Linux (for compatibility with IE), Accel+L
still works on all 3 platforms,
- tab switching in tabbed browsing: Ctrl+[shift]+Tab (no longer for frame
navigation). We're probably going to keep it for frame navigation on Mac though,
since [shift]+F6 is not available on mac for that.

If other changes come up, I can put them in this bug.

The documentation appears to be there now - under "Mozilla Keyboard Shortcuts"
in the help contents. Marking WFM.
Actually mark it this time :)
